When can I start eating eggs laid by new chickens

Skip the cinnamon & sugar and that's what my Italian grandfather had for breakfast. We kids were allowed to watch him fix and drink the concoction (suitablely awed mind you) , but weren't allowed to have wine.

Our grandma was giving us 5 year olds red wine... for breakfast... made us stronger, I guess! ;-)

It's perfectly safe to eat the first egg unless you've dosed them with a medication. Here's what I did with mine:

The bigger egg is a store-bought large. I couldn't believe how much darker my egg was! It was 5 times tastier too!

I have been planning on HOW to eat my first egg!!! DO I wait for 2 and use it in a cake, or in a pancake batter or do I eat it as a purist, hard boiled with a pinch of sea salt or over easy in a little butter????? I JUST DON'T KNOW!!!!!!!! BUT I WILL be eating the first one! Even if it is a fart egg! HAHAHAHAHA

I, too, was planning exactly how I should eat my first egg.

After all, it is the FIRST egg . . . and it cost me $2000.

So I was determined to make it special.

I was gonna just boil it, but ended up frying it with lots of butter.

It was nice to see how dark the yolk was . . . and tasty!

I have also read not to eat the first few eggs. I think I read it in a book titled - Raising Chickens for Dummies, (insert joke here). But seriously, I have read/heard that also. My hens just started laying and I have been waiting. I should have been eating them all along. Well it is a book for dummies........................
