Didn't eat my hens first egg but only because it was very thin shelled and was broken in the box, but the second egg made up for the first one, it was a double yolk! Yumm!
For me it depends on the weather. I'm in AZ and it's 112 degrees today. Any eggs outside all day today, I would not eat. If you live somewhere else and it's not so hot or the eggs are not outside but in a coop, well, that's a different story.
Hmmm... I keep reading that we are maybe the only country in the ENTIRE WORLD that refrigerates eggs. It is really possible that keeping them cold is not needed as long as they are fresh. Think the deserts of Spain and Greece, Italy in their summers... I plan to keep mine on the kitchen counter as soon as my gals start laying.
