when chicks are available??

you can get quite a few hatchery chicks all year around. they normaly run out of rare breeds like the end of july. alot of breeders that sell day old chicks start in the spring and end when it gets to hot for shipping and sometimes start back up with cooler weather. what kinds of chicks are you loooking for and do you prefer hatchery or breeder stock

im thinkin about getting austrolorps(spelling?

mypetchicken.com has a special going right now, 25 Easter egger pullets for $41.50 shipped. They also have a barred rock special, a rhode island red special, and a rainbow egg layer assortment special as well. These are each 41.50 total including shipping, and they are all pullets. Go to www.mypetchicken.com and check it out.

I would find a hatchery in your state. My wife's uncle just received hatchery chicks. 6 were dead from heat exhaustion. It's been pretty cool in NY,but they were flown in. The hatchery offered to replace them, but it's the point that all of those chicks suffered to the point that 6 died. Had he of bought from a hatchery closer to home he could of avoided the whole mess....food for thought
