Not too sure where to place this, but I thought I'd share a funny story.
My neighbor, who owns a bunch of chickens, started collecting eggs of her favorites in case something happens to them (and since her rooster's quite the horndog, who not?). One chicken in particular, who was raised on a farm prior, would always come up to my barn and lay an egg. So I started marking her eggs and bringing them down to be placed in the incubator.
I had a couple instances where she wasn't home, and without a key, I can't get in her house. With it being cold, I knew keeping the egg in my inner most pocket of my winter barn suit wouldn't keep it warm enough. So, I became a DIY Penguin.
It's stupid, but it worked! Basically, I took a thin hand towel, wrapped the egg in it, carefully stuffed the loose ends in my snowpants, and through my shirt over it tucking that in. The egg was able to stay just warm enough! But then there came a point where she wouldn't be back for a while, but I had to work that night. So, the DIY contued:
Of course I kept a close on it and made sure (even with the heat pad on low) that the egg didn't get too warm to the point the possible chick could die. And from what I've heard, they survived!
So yeah, thought I'd share something funny.
