So I rigged up an incubator using a heating pad in a plastic tote lined with hoodie and potty pad for insulation and have been hand turning multiple times a day. about 60-70 percent of eggs seem good at this point.
My PROBLEM is lockdown...I worry the eggs may overheat on one side from not...
I need some advice or perhaps the green light go ahead. I made an incubator following the instructions on this site: https://www.hobbyfarms.com/build-your-own-egg-incubator/ I didn't make the wooden box. The interior of my incubator looks almost the exact same except I added a small USB operated...

Hi. I am building a cheap incubator but I don't have a room thermometer. I was wondering if I could check the temperature of the incubator by placing a body thermometer in the water glass used for humidity, and check the water in the glass. Would that work? Of course I would have to do it a few...
I’m getting ready to attempt to incubate Ancona duck eggs for the second time. My first DIY incubator was a bust. I made it out of a 10gal aquarium, and I think it just made it too hard to keep the temp steady. My new one is a styrofoam cooler. Plus I added a computer fan. I’ve been running it...
I am messing around with light configuations, and decided to try this absurd disco-LED light, plugged into the toggling on-off end of my incubator. The amazing thing is that it holds temperature so well that it almost never has to switch off when combined with the blue 25-watt bulb at the other...
Hi, i hatched my first chick in a DIY incubator (my mistake) and there were severe temperature fluctuations. My chick hatched very sticky, and it took 2 days after the first pip. I ended up having to help it out of the shell, its legs were too weak (i helped on day 2, very slowly and carefully)...
I had lots of troubles with many Chinese incubators and mainly the humidity and heating elements.. But mine completely gave up it won't turn on... So i bought a sealed electricity box for 12 bucks a fan and a temperature controller and i constructed this masterpiece give me your thoughts!

I know there have to be multiple threads on the diy foam cooler incubators, but for some reason I can’t find them. Anyone have links or know who to ask? I’ve got a cooler, a picture frame taped in as a viewing window, and a wax melter from Walmart as the heat source. Will this actually work??
I am preparing to build a cabinet incubator with a four tray turner. I have a 1 rpm 110 volt motor to run the automatic egg turner but am looking for 2 things and am asking you folks for help.
1. Does anyone have plans for such a turner or know where I can find them?
2. Can anyone direct...
This is my attempt at building a incubator. I am using a VFD enclosure that was going to be trashed. So far I have welded up the holes where the power was run to and from it. I also welded up the fan openings on the back and top that were used to cool off the internals. I cut the openings to...
Not too sure where to place this, but I thought I'd share a funny story.
My neighbor, who owns a bunch of chickens, started collecting eggs of her favorites in case something happens to them (and since her rooster's quite the horndog, who not?). One chicken in particular, who was raised on a...
Hey everyone, I’m building a new incubator, and I purchased a really cheap egg turner.
It showed up in pretty bad shape from the mail but I got it mostly patched up.
My question is about the motor. It runs constantly. Is this going to be a problem for incubation? I’m incubating coturnix quail...
I have a Brinsea 20 Octagon and a new Incuview but its just not enough space. So rather than spend a whole lot of money on another commercial incubator i decided to make my own. I figure i need a container, a fan, a thermostat and a heat source. Follow along and see how i screw up along the way.
Hi all! I’ve been out of the chicken game for several years and am ready to jump back in. I decided to start with making my own incubator. I really liked the look of the wine coolers converted to incubators and the practicality of them too. As providence would have it I scored this brand new...
Several years ago, I built an incubator using an old RV refrigerator. I was proud of it (it actually worked!). I joined BRC and submitted an video of it; Recently, I dug it out of my shop and used it for another hatch. I had a component failure (bearings in the squirrel cage blower froze up)...

I manage a storage facility where we often have things left behind when people move their items out. We take these forgotten items and throw them in 3 of our garage...
