My hubby is in law enforcement also. I always ask him how his day was. He always says, "Spent it waiting to see you."

Then one day he said, "Got stabbed while waiting to see you."

Flick! I nearly had to be sedated! At least he made it home.

Both hubby and I are both Deputies and the one good thing about that is we are able to talk about work together!! We prepare for the worst and hope for the best!! Always making sure if something happened to one of us our family is taken care of. It can be very stressful in certain circumstances!!

So glad your DH came home safe.

The bulb in our lamp post out front of the house is blue in honor of the 5 officers that died last year in the Seattle Tacoma area. Our next door neighbor was an officer for the Forest Service. He was killed by an impaired driver. He was only 35. I miss him so much as I watch his little boys grow up with out him. They need him. I still cry as I pass the place where he died.

I get scared about my son. While he isn't a officer, he does work for the county road department. He was out this past weekend clearing trees in the road during the storm. We had 73 mph winds, and DS was out clearing the trees even as they were still falling. At least he has a good crew to work with and has good common sense.

Most people really don't have any idea what cops and fire fighters face every day.

And it is because cops and firefighters face it that GQ doesn't know about it......

I still feel bad for the poor cop who got obsessed with hunting down my niece after she escaped from the rehab program he had worked to get her into. Or the shock of the judge when DH and I showed up to support the COP not the niece!

DH went into a fire once where it turned out the guy was a real gun nut and the basement was FULL of ammo. Whoops! They all ended up hiding behind the truck down the block watching that sucker burn!
