There HAS to be a better way to accomplish this... I will suffer through this winter with it...but sure as poop in a coop, I WILL devise a better system in the summer...

The nipple waterer system is awesome! We made our own with $5 worth of 'poultry nipples' and a bucket from Lowes. The water is ALWAYS clean. There is a learning period but they get the idea after a while. BTW, in this system, you have to have air enter from the top in order for it to work....
The problem I am seeing tho, is freezing weather. I assume I can't use it in the winter, so I've set up a heated dog bowl...

I use the bucket with horizontal needles the ones that are mounted on the bottom leaked but plain old aquarium heaters will be fine I use them make sure they are the submersible

Oh that would be marvelous to use the nipple bucket all year, thank you! I'm going to look at aquarium heaters, and hopefully I'll try one out....
BTW I've tested my verticals in various containers and don't have any that leak...We did wrap Teflon tape around them before screwing them in.

Can you plug an aquarium heater into one of those therma-cube thingies so it's not on all the time?

no if it is cold enough to freeze they stay plugged in My BF ran power to my coop so I am on a dedicated line I have three buckets in the main coop I do have to use an extension cord just to them so can unplug it if it gets warmer
