Ugghhhh....not sure what all you folks are talking about...butt hygiene...olive oil and rubber gloves...Sounds like monsters to me!!!

Good for you!I'm 61 y.o. and have NEVAH trimmed a beak! Toe nails, spurs, and made a few bleed. But, never a beak!
that raised them had to do this to prevent injuries if the roosters would fight among themselves. Only the top portion was trimmed. If the bottom was trimmed, the Roo would not be able to drink water well. 
My 1+ month old chick, Eve, has the longest, sharpest beak and nails. I did take a tiny bit off them so not quite so dangerous. She really is a lap baby though and gets along well with the 2-1/2 week olds.
