Where did they come from???

My temporary wall thing will essentially be blocking off two nest boxes from the general population area. I was thinking on putting the "feeding/watering" station in the other nest box...to keep it out of the way of the playground of the broody area.

Another question... The coop (where the broody area is located) is elevated off the ground with a ramp leading to the under portion of the coop and the run. Will Miss Mocha teach the chicks to navigate the ramp without falling off the sides or must I carry them down or teach them? I had to teach rescue Greyhounds how to navigate steps...hand over paw. NOT...a pleasant experience...

No and the larger birds will kill them they have to be grounded PLEASE

open containers are awful they crap in them jmho

Most likely, you would probably have to pick them up and shake them every now and then to make sure everything feeds down properly since grit and oyster shell are larger and more irregularly shaped than crumbles.
 
the chicks will not be able to navigate the ramp for a week or so. They need to stay up or on the ground... or be put up every night when the broody goes in so they don't get cold. Some hens don't like chicks and are to rough with them and kill them... I had one that was rough but she got used to them... the broodies protection instinct is strongest the first couple of weeks and she usually can protect them from the other hens, until they get used to them.
Also a dish with a big opening chicks can drown in the first few weeks.. marbles or stones help with that.

Okay...this is my plan...purple dotted line will be the temporary wall. The second pic is the only shot I have on my phone showing the interior...
