well my 4 layers were laying in the nest boxes just great until 4 days ago now 2 of them are laying on the floor just whereever they want to that day I am thinking about making new bigger boxes to see what happens.
Heck no, churkenduse
Talk bout really being a lot of work. Sometimes I put her in but she jumps right back out again. She gets antsy about 2 hours before she lays, and runs around whining and crying. Jumps in there, jumps out, it takes her forever, and she must jump in and out 15 times before she decides its the best place.
She has been laying there since Dec 15. Look back an see my post, "Finally threw that dadblasted chicken in the garbage".
I've got 6 Reds, 3 are laying right now. they have 3 beautiful Grey Goose Vodka Wooden nesting boxes, lined with fresh straw...they must take turns because all of the eggs are in the one nest...even when they were all laying...one nest!
For a while all of mine were good about laying in the boxes, but my silkie Fluffy has decided to just drop her egg wherever she is which is usually in the direct middle of the coop, and then my other girls had been playing hide the egg from mom lately!
I just found a nest of a dozen eggs and this morning an egg was sitting in the boats cover! My crazy girls
I love all your stories, especially the garbage can, that is a hoot. Gotta love 'em though.
It's amazing they all have their own personality and each one has their own way or place to lay.
I finally got one in the nest, I had put a fake egg in there and they rolled it out so I put it back and I found one in there this morning yeah!! all my hard work is paying off.
