Where is everyone from and what breed of chickens do you raise?

Hi! Welcome to Backyard Chickens! I'm from Lewiston ny. I have over 14 different breeds of chickens so i wont bother typing them up. I've been looking into breeding and would love to sell some fertile eggs if you weren't so far away... But anyways i really hope you find this website enjoyable!

Hi, I'm here in the Arizona desert. I raise the breeder's Australorp's in the Black, Blue, and Splash colors. I hatch out eggs from my own flock from time to time. I will sell hatching eggs, but I don't ship them. Want to take a drive?

I just recently moved from northwest Arkansas to Woodward, Oklahoma. Our move was almost to Conrad, Montana, but things didn't play out and here we are almost in the plains of Oklahoma. We have 14 bantams(what I call silly birds-we only have one mature hen-the rest are 10 weeks old). I don't know exactly what breeds these critters are-they were all gifted as fertile eggs or laid by our older banties and while most of them look like a game breed, some have beards and clean legs, some have beards and feathered legs...they're all pretty, but skittish. We have 23 3-week-old chicks. I picked friendly to practically lap chicken breeds and good to great layers and color variety for these because they will be in the main yard where my 6 kiddos will also play. They are:
Brown Leghorns(one male, 4 females)
Australorps(4 female)
Easter Eggers(4 female)
Salmon Faverolles(4 females, and surprise surprise 2(!) males)
and last but not least
Dominiques(4 female)

We had Brown Leghorns before and we never lost one to predators-not even the aerial assaults! They lay like champs. The rooster just wanted nothing to do with people and had not one aggressive moment with us. Our Buff Orpingtons from our 1st flock came to us nearing maturity and were the grumpiest birds! The roo was after me for years before I figured out how to non-violently adjust his attitude(I brought a broom handle out with me one day and when he went to attack me, I stuck that stick in the way and he pecked himself silly. I just carried the stick with me after that and he never flogged me again. He even started preferring to eat out of my hands! We had Barred Rocks that laid like champs that first year and then those 25 ladies hardly laid after that! Our old Buffs and Leghorns were laying well, so I don't know what happened. We gifted those to a friend who will either get them back on track or have a lot of chicken in the freezer for their big family.
We also had Pekin ducks and those eggs were especially fantastic in baked goods or noodles. It was just an Easter egg hunt every morning! They would lay them in the craziest places. What is winter care for your birds like? In NWA we had lots of frozen waterers, and here we will likely have more frosty temps! Favorite tips for cold weather months?

Hi I am in central PA. Currently we have 2 Lavender Orpingtons pullets, 1 silky chick, 2 black polish (the ones with the fuzzy fur on top their head. (one is a chick), 2 copper morans, 1 barred rock, 1 easter egger (rooster), 1 serama bantam and 5 sexlink :)

Hi Robin,
I live in Kalispell in the city limits. I have 2 old grandma hens that are RIR and no longer laying, and 2 Japanese bantams and a Black Austrolorp that are about 12 weeks old. I am looking for a couple more hens to round out my flock and provide eggs. Would you have any for sale? Or know of anyone that does?
Thanks!
