Where to put my brooder?

After reading some other articles on BYC, it is definitely best for them to be in the basement. I showed them to my family, and they are willing to keep them in the house. I have decided to make room in a corner of the basement with an old closet. It is a bit small, but I found a large book shelf (I would put it flat) that I could convert into a brooder when they get too big. The closet is connected to a room with a door, but I will also put up a baby gate with some hardware cloth over it in case chicks try to escape, and attach hardware cloth/ chicken wire to the sides if they try to fly out. Thank you all for the advice, as you saved me from making a very risky decision! Thank you especially to @getaclue for talking some sense into me.
