I love my little leghorns so much. I read that they were flighty birds, but our girls are just lovely. I mean, they are literally flighty and fly over our fence to visit with the neighbor's chickens, but their personalities are so funny and sweet. They follow my three-year-old daughter around as though she's one of them, come running to be pet whenever we head out into the yard, don't balk at being picked up, and are just fun to have around. Of course, their egg-laying abilities are super impressive, and there was no training involved to get them to lay in the right spot or leave the eggs alone. I know their brains are teeny, but whoever claims that chickens are dumb have no idea what they're talking about. I sometimes think they are smarter than our dogs... But maybe that's a comment on the dogs, not the chickens. This is our first chicken-raising experience and I am so happy with it. I'm so glad there are so many people willing to speak up for the leghorns! Forgotten breed, indeed!
