White Leghorns

i just collected my first eggs ever!!!! 2 eggs from my 17 week old White Leghorn! They are kinda small eggs, but hoping that she will lay larger ones eventually.

They always start small but settle after about a month and then its egg factory

Leghorns are the best layers and large eggs too

Best feed to egg conversion

I had 6 now only 5 as I gave one to my mate as he didn't have a white layer

My 2 white leghorns started laying at 17 weeks. We were super surprised since we were on vacation...I had to ask the chicken sitter to save the first eggs for me!!

leghorns have a tendancy to start early

then stop then fully get on with the program months later

i had one that i was thinking of culling as she layed 1 every 7 days and i thought that she had problems with her ovaries

then all of a sudden after 2 months from the day she started laying i started getting daily eggs and they where big too

its a leghorn thing

I keep commercial Leghorns. They typically begin to lay at eighteen weeks though I have had a few start as early as sixteen. Rarely have one that hasn't laid yet by nineteen weeks.

I have 4 one started at 17 weeks, one at 18 weeks. The other 2 haven't started yet at 20 weeks but the other 2 are laying like clockwork just a little small yet.

Mine started at 22 1/2 weeks. I was starting to dispair. I had expected her to be the first to lay among all of my girls, but she was slower than I thought. Perfect first egg from her yesterday though, and good sized too. . I'm delighted with her efforts.
