Who all keeps their chickens IN THE HOUSE?

mine talk to me, but we have a language barrier. Also have 3 young silkie cockerels in our entryway that I'm giving crowing lessons to every morning

All three tried this morning, for the first time! WHOOHOO! The only lil pullet is looking at me like: "AH Mom! Don't encourage them...they are detestable anyways! How can you stand boys?!?!" I guess its almost time they will have to go out and stay in a real coop...I've got 35 eggs hatching this month and I'll need the cages for those chicks.

my girls come in the house often. When i let them out of the outside coop and they range for awhile they show up at glass door and peck wanting in. so i let them in they wander in the living room and kitchen. if it gets late they find a shoulder to hunker over on. if there ready to roost i pick them up i take them to my room and i put them on top of a box on top of the ferret cage. There they stay unless i take them off. When at night and their roosting i just have the tv on. i leave the fish tank off, the light off, and if i want to read i use the little book light. hahaha. Anyway. My girls were raised in the house, my goats were raised in the house, my racoons are in the house, its just how we do things. Everyone is very clean and well mannered. well the racoons are as well mannered as their gonna get haha. just dont take their marshmellows away.

I wouldn't trust my babies in the house! I have a rotty and a doby that may have a problem with their feathered friends invading their space.

Julius, my roo, has come in our building outside a few times. He pooped on the floor though!

Chickie stays with me whenever Im home and often when I leave for a few hours. He is so spoiled (ref pic)

How do you keep them from going on the floor? Every once in awhile its a yucky poo as well. I just dont know if i could train them!!! They dont understand, its natural to just poop.

Only new chicks, and only for a short time until I move them out to the coop, to the brooder section. In warm weather, they go right out if they're purchased chicks, if I hatch them in the 'bator they go out to the coop brooder at day 2 or 3.

I once worked with a woman who had a silkie that rode inside her leather jacket when she went out on her motorcycle. Her silkie lived in the house with her, and a couple of times she brought her to work with her. The boss got wind of it (not from me, I thought it was funny) and made her stop.

I have 3 hens that, when they get the chance, will sneak in the kitchen door to steal dog food. My dogs, (one sheep dog, one funny basset mix, 2 lab mixes) are trained not to bother the birds, but I run them back out anyway, so they don't poop all over, or fly up and knock things over. Several others will come in as well, but those three make a habit of it.

This is a great thread, I am so enjoying the stories.
My oldest Silkie is 9 weeks old, she is still in the house, lives in a empty washing machine box with some 7 week old frizzles and silkies.
I cut a huge window in the side so the can see out. I tape a large window sceen over the opening. My dog sits and watches them play.
I replace the box when needed, other wise I just clean out the bedding and put in in the garden.
We take the silkies out, to watch tv, usually with a towel in our laps.
or in the kitchen to walk around for a short time. then just clean up the poop.
My husband always says, no more chickens in the house!
Did I mention the 8 EE's in the rubbermaid tote? they are 4 week old, or the 11 eggs in the bator?
There are plenty of chickens outside too. Can chickens climb stairs?
they would have to come up the stairs to my porch to get in.
