Who else is getting chicks tomorrow at TSC??

Our TSC should have theirs in this week. All of the bins were set up with heat lamps and all. I asked the youngsters working in TSC what breeds they are getting but they are clueless.

So anyone who goes in our TSC is on their own. I surely don't need any more chicks but it will be fun to see what they have. If I can't control my addition, I may leave with 1, 2 or maybe 20.

My TSC is supposed to be getting them in sometime this week...they couldn't give me an exact date, but they did say they are getting large fowl, bantams, and ducks.

They had 8 bins set up with heat lamps and bedding. I have college classes in the morning in the same town, but my morning classes end at 11am and my afternoon classes don't start until 3pm. Hmm....I know where I will be between classes

I will be sure to take my power converter for my car, my plastic bin car brooder, that fits perfectly in the back of my car, a feeder and waterer for while I am in classes.

They will be riding and resting in style. LOL!

and hoping that they have the babies in tomorrow! I was originally told no by the DH...that I should just wait until I can order the exact breeds I am after...but I decided to get a little wise and told him

"but if Tractor Supply has the breeds that I am after, then I won't have to place an order through the hatchery, and I can get them now and get them ready to lay eggs by the summer" So, DH caved and told me that it sounded like a much better plan!

Now, hopefully I don't get in there and

over all of the babies! Wonder what the DH would do if I came home with more than I originally planned to order?

I love chicken math!

*sigh* I went in to TSC this morning, bright eyes and bushy-tailed to get my ducks and as I glanced over to the 6 bins they had set up I noticed only 2 lights were on. They hadn't gotten any ducks in.

So I came home with 6 Ameraucanas instead!

^^^ She has a leopard print face! Her markings on her face are seriously leopard print. I wish I could have taken a better picture to illustrate this because it's sooo cool looking!

ETA: I called another TSC after getting the chicks settled in to ask if they were getting ducks in today and they told me to call back in a couple hours because they had JUST gotten the call from the PO!

For the past two years I have hatched chicks for my DDs birthday on March 1. This year I messed up and we will not have any hatch until March 12. TSC is supposed to get chicks today-guess I will have to bring her over to pick some out. EE are so fluffy and sweet as chicks!

Just got back from TSC, with 6 extra little EE's, all different colors!!

I couldn't wait the extra week for TSC to get them so I went to RK last Friday just after they came in. I have never bought them when they were actually sexed before so it was easy to pick some good pullets....BR and BO. But of course I need a roo to go with each so I got 2 of each from the straight run bin hoping for a roo. If I weren't an addict I could have walked away....but...what is the fun of having chicks when you don't have to figure out what they are. Of course I picked 2 mystery chicks. I thought I figured out the breeds after I got home and one seems to be an banty EE....uh oh, a banty. The big girls didn't want to play with the little one so of course I had to go get another banty or two. No more like him but I started looking for the tiny puffy cheeks and the employee who did the catching helped. I found 2 who met the puffy cheeks criteria and bought them. (I was in a hurry because DH was waiting in the car). I didn't even notice the legs until I got in the car....feathers?!?!?
Now I really have a mystery....maybe Mille Fleur/ D'uccles?!?!?

I am so addicted to baby chicks!!!
