Who else is waiting the impossible wait?

Our little girls like to hang out on the back porch, sit on the railings and stare in the windows, quite pathetically waiting for treats. Tonight, Bubbles was getting a little vocal about the lack of appropriate treats. My DSE, who was rather vehemently unenthusiastic about getting chickens but is now their biggest source for yummy goodness, opened the door, just a crack, and yelled, "Go lay an egg!!!"

I guess I'm not the only one having trouble dealing with the suspense.

We have 4 beautiful girls...1 SLW, 1 BPR, and 2 BOs. They are 15 weeks old today and nothing. I'm not even sure they have been doing the Chicken Squat yet. I will look for it tomorrow. Our nesting box has been blocked off. After researching tonight, we are planning on opening it up and putting in 2 golf balls. I guess it can happen anytime.

I wonder if it matters if they hens get to free range -- will this make them lay sooner?

I have 11 Light Brahmas who are 17 weeks. I can almost smell the eggs in the air and it's absolutely killing me. I want these eggs to come more than I can remember wanting my first born child to arrive!!! just kidding, but seriously it feels that I have waited so long.

Still no eggs. Sigh.

It's times like these I remember what my late-dad would've said for me to do.

He would've told me to take a picture of a KFC Bucket and show it to my chickens in the coop for motivation, saying "if you don't start laying, you're ending up with 11 herbs and spices!"

Gawd, I miss his sense of humor. I might just do that.

My chicken will be 18 weeks on Monday. Only one is starting to get red faced. I'm feeding Layer and Oyster shell... Nest boxes up and strawed... NADA!!!! Driving me insane...

I think the talk I had with my girls a few days ago actually worked. No one had laid in weeks and I was sick of them free loading. I explained that the first step would be no more watermelon, cheese omelets, or meal worms. The next step might be soup (I'm such a liar!).

None of my 12-16 week hens are going in the nest boxes, but they are building little nests in the shavings! I really hope they lay soon!!!
