I have 10 little ladies that are 15 weeks, I'm patiently waiting on them. No biggie.

However, I did get 3 hens, 2 one year olds and one two year old. The two year old was a freebie because she's "old."

I've gotten ONE egg from one of the one year olds. They've been here for almost three weeks.

However the two year old polish has laid about 5 eggs a week. She's my only white egg layer, and the only eggs I'm getting are....white.

I think the heat and the move upset the one year olds.

Of course, I also have four 15 week old roos, one of which has really decided he's a manly man. I'm hoping the onset of "chicken relations" to the one year olds might kick start them again. (Everyone is happy and healthy, flock raiser with free choice oyster, and lots of leafy greens).

So I wait....and get my "Honey egg" each day or two

Just do what we did. Left on vacation on Sunday and Monday the chickensitter called to tell us the first egg had been layed. We kned it would happen. Had an egg pool going at work and I originally picked the 19th, then changed it to the 23rd. Should have relied on my instincts since the first egg came July 19th. We are thinking it came from Mrs. Poon, our RIR. Nothing the next day, one on Wednesday and 2 today. So now 2 out of our 4 girls are laying. The weird thing is, the very 1st egg was much bigger than the next 3, so we are still trying to figure out if it came from the chickens or a joke played on us by a neighbor. Either way, at least they are finally laying!!!

I'm kind of in a wait. I have 7 hens, one roo. Someone (not the roo, obviously) started laying at exactly 20 weeks, but only one of them. So my wait is how long is it going to take everyone else to start laying? Right now I have 1 layer, her six friends and her (their) "gentleman caller"...

I believe that locking up my animals keep people honest. Even though I live in the country, I still lock my doors. Call me paranoid, but people will do things.

It's funny, I was waiting patiently until I started reading this thread. Now I am getting more and more anxious. Can't wait to have fresh eggs for breakfast again. It's been over 15 years.

Think I will go out and do an egg dance before work.
