Who else is waiting the impossible wait?

I am waiting and waiting! My 21 week old EE has been "singing the egg song" for almost two weeks AND doing the egg sqaut almost as long - I am DYING to get an egg - it is making me nuts! So far we get one a day from our Marans - she started at 19 weeks. We have three EEs that are 21 weeks today but only one is showing any signs - but hey all shoud lstart soon I hope! It is sooooo hard waiting!

i have 1 rir and 1 br and as i said nothing. i put golf balls in the nesting boxes but they through them out ad peck at them. what else can i do?

Me and my family are guessing about the time they will lay.

OK i have a cute story our chickens have a little fenced off area.

My dog hates it. She loves those chickens so much!

Every time they are let out she runs to the gate (she is a tiny little thing!)

and she barks untill she is let in then she hangs out with those chickens like they are ALL hens!

Our girls are 18 weeks. Getting very noisy,checking out the nesting boxes and wattles and combs are red. I know it is getting close. Is there a particular time during the day when they lay? I check the boxes in the morning at about 6:30when i let them out. We let them free range from about 5 to dusk. When i lock them in i check again. Will they lay in the early evening while free ranging? Just wondering if i am missing something. The anticipation is mounting!



So excited!! Just went out to lock up the girls and check the nesting boxes. Surprise! Our first egg just laying in the nesting box. Trying to upload a picture.

on their 18th birthday, i found 2 eggs!!!!!! one in the nest box, but apparently stepped on, and one on the poop board, can you say bombs away???? That was last friday,,,then a perfect egg on Sunday, and another perfect one today!! Finally. This is out of a flock of 5 hens and one roo..(00ps)....2 rir, 2 golden comets, 1 barred rock hen and the other barred rock is a roo...not sure what we are going to do with him yet....

But it is very exciting to start to finally get some eggs!! Not sure who the doner is, but dont really care at this point. woooo hoooooo
