Who else is waiting the impossible wait?

In just 3 days my 2 BR's and 4 EE's will all be TWENTY TWO weeks old and NO EGGS! Arg. It's frustrating, especially when everyone else complains about no eggs at 18 weeks. ha ha! Just have to keep busy with other work to make the time pass to the first egg, or maybe I'll discover a few eggs one day all of the sudden.

chickenprincess92, No you're not the only one still waiting. I have 26 girls who are almost 16 and 20 wks old and nothing yet.
One of my RIR started really talking loud last week and squatted a coupe times when I touched her, then she stopped. Again today she's really talking. One of my black sex links squatted for me last night. This morning one of my RIR's kept wanting to get in my lap when I was squatted against the hen house watching them. One of my buff orps likes to stand right next to me when I squat with them but doesn't like to be picked up. I got them all day old and have made a point of handling them all every day. I will have lighting in my hen house soon. Yeah!!! I'll be putting their light on a timer to come on an hour before dawn to start gradually adding more "daylight" to their day.

I think I'll go check my girls now, before I go back to my mowing. ta ta

I feel your pain. I have an EE that is 23 weeks... nothing. I have a leghorn, a barred rock, and a RIR that are all 20-21 weeks--still nuttin'. My welsummer is only 18 weeks-ish, so I don't expect anything from her for a while. But a 20-week-old white leghorn SHOULD be laying eggs, or at least one would think so. She's got a giant red comb and big red wattles and a bright BRIGHT red face for a couple of weeks now, but still nuttin'. She walks around this yard struttin' and squawkin' the "egg song" and squattin' from time to time, but still... nuttin'. This has been going on for WEEKS. I've said it before... I think I have a flock of duds.

Whoooeeeeeeeee!!!!! My wait is over! I went out to check my girls before I got back on my mower and there is a beautiful small brown egg in one of the nest boxes!! I can't believe I'm so calm. It's a beautiful day and the girls were all inside, just sitting around quietly, while one of my blk sex links was quietly pacing back and forth on the perch in front of the nest box. I got my camera and went back and stood watching the girls. One by one they were hopping up there to take a look. One of the girls went into the nest next to the one with the egg. I hope none of the others pecks it open because I'd really like to leave it there to show my granddaughters after school. And hoping, trying to think like a chicken again, that another will take it as her que to lay her first too. lol Only you would understand. I called hubby first thing and then made my other two calls. lol Now I'm really going back to my mowing. Maybe.

Nope, I'm still waiting too. Still giving them the nightly pep-talks and general words of encouragement.

We weren't home when she layed it, so we didn't hear the song, but that's ok.

It's the one in the middle that doesn't have Pinnacle printed on it.

Sorry chickenprincess92, hang in there.

Oh, Chickenprincess....I have graduated this thread a while back, but still have several "first eggs" to go with my flock. I have been waiting with you since day one. I cannot wait for you to get your first egg. I have a son close to your age and he has been waiting for you to get your first egg also. We are all (even hubby now too) rooting for you to be next
