My first ever chickens will be 19 weeks tomorrow...still no eggs. They are starting to get big wattles and combs...still quite pink though getting a little more red each day. They squat down when I pet them. They have got to start laying soon. I can hardly wait!
I have 6) 20 week old's and 2 are randomly giving me small eggs, 2 more have been interested in the next boxes and a bit more talkative and hanging around in the coop.
I have 8) 16 week old EE's and 2 of them are getting pretty bright red in the face.
Hello We know how you feel.. Since we are completly new to haveing chickens we will be very excited to see that first egg.Our babies are 14 weeks old and we were told when we got them that they would probably start laying between 15 and 18 weeks..So we just sit and wait like everyone else!!!
Good luck to all..

My girls are 4 and a half months. I keep on saying that it is any day now - they're bottoms are all fluffy, they are doing the mating squat, and they are all lovey-dovey so when are they going to start producing? I'm beginning to think that I got three barren hens.
UPDATE: I just got my first egg today!! It's a small, green egg so either Sparrow (Americauna) or Button (EE) is responsible. It's silly, but I feel like they are the most clever creatures ever!
