Who else is waiting the impossible wait?

I have 4 chickens that will be 19 weeks old this Sunday. They are 2 buff orps and 2 SLW's

I also have an EE chicken that is of age to lay because she was laying almost one a day, but she isn't laying either. She's not too old, I would say she may be a year, I call her the eggless wonder.

How long have you waited im going on 15 weeks.

We've been waiting 17 wks... I've been watching because after our egg without a shell this morning I'm noticing that my two leghorns are going to the nestboxes and the other chickens are like "sitting in the waiting room" for the announcement... Hoping this means that we're ready to be "egg parents"... soon!!!

Our six oldest pullets were born mid-February. We just got our first egg yesterday and another today! I'm pretty sure they're from our black australorp, Bessie. We have 2 leghorns (Hans and Franz) that are close, too! The other 3 are taking their own sweet time... We have 4 more that are younger. I'm not even waiting for them...

I just came from the back yard, & 2 of my hens walked the long walk up to the coop (way too early to think about roosting). The SLW had 2nd thoughts apparently & came back down, but the Leghorn went in - oh joy... but came back out after ~30 seconds.
? False labor, maybe?

I've never given birth to a child... (reason why I'm telling you all that) ...all 6 of my kiddos are adopted. I've been in the delivery room for 2 of my neice/nephews but always in the "ok we're ready" stage....so I now know a little bit better why fathers pace before birth....

Just made me giggle when I was thinking about it today!

My girlies are only 7 weeks old, so I have a LONG wait ahead.....

question: so when one starts laying, do they all tend to follow the leader? or is it different for each breed? we have 3 different breeds all the same age. just curious.

It could be worst I have 13 laying hens been getting 10 to 12 eggs a day and then it stopped for 2 days----That is when I noticed the Tire tracks by the chicken coop, you know its preety bad when you have to lock the nest box and the coop door!!!! I have 20 that are 6 weeks old they will be replacing my older flock when they start laying.

I have 20 hens that are almost 22 weeks, and I've only gotten a couple of dinky little eggs. I know they will start out small, and that's OK. But, I'm looking forward to filling up my cute egg basket!!

Someone is STEALING your eggs? That would make me want to sit on my roof with my shotgun full of rock salt and wait for the THIEF.
He/she wouldn't be able to sit down for quite a while, and would definitely remember me. Maybe even make them rethink their behavior.....
