ZOMG! Someone needs to tell Utah that Arizona is stealing their WATER!

:p

In Col. Ohio they send a thing out with the H2O bill every month about ways to conserve water and energy. They recommend both rain barrels and water run off gardens. Where the garden is rain and drought tolerant so that way the water has a place to go.

If we end up buying the 2 acres we are hoping to get then we will have lots of rain barrels and a rain pond.

I do, I use them to fill rain barrels(home made out of 55 gal drums), and the barrels are used to fill the duck pond and water the flower beds around the coop it works great. I use regular surplus gutter that I got for next to nothing, under $5 for enough to do both sides of mu coop at the local flea market. A lot of times you can get it pretty cheap at surplus from gutter installation places, It normally is an odd lengths and colors but it is cheap and well that is what normally makes or breaks a project around here not what color it is.

It has finally stopped raining!!!!! Once my baby girl (2) finally lays down for a nap I can go out there and start building something. It isn't supposed to rain until next week so I think that I will be able to get a majority of it done.

Hooray for no rain!!!!!

I don't want to be a bummer as I am a huge advocate for gutters/rain barrels/collecting water, especially for gardens. I have a rain barrel and I love it. Depending on what your roofing material is, you *may* want to get a water test done, particularly if you are considering using this water for edibles or animals. Asphalt shingle roofs are quite toxic and the water run-off isn't good to drink, but would be fine for flowers. The newer the roof, the more you need to consider this.

Just want you to be informed...
