Who has purchased eggs from ebay ? and what was your hatch rate ?

ha! I like that scramble gamble that deffinitly fits the bill!! It just surprises me that my friend found a quail egg in the horse pasture and put it in the incubator and that poor thing has been through it all..... unplugging the inc cuz I forgot it was in there along with it not being turned for like 3 days, a temp spike of 104, the entire inc fell and hit the ground along with all the eggs and that dang thing is alive and well but these eBay eggs I can't get to survive given spot on conditions!!

Oh my! Is it normal? lol.

Well I am nearing the end of day 20 on my BBS Ameraucana eBay eggs. I received 18. Knew for sure 9 were developing straight off. I cracked three open on day 8 I think and was surprised to find two of them had just began developing that day despite what looked like blood rings. The other was not viable. I put six that I was unsure of under a broody hen so they wouldn't clog up the incubator.
My turkey ruined the eggs by trying to steal them multiple times (effectively scrambling them) and when I did eggtopsy was sad to see every single one of those showed signs of development except two which I assume we're nonviable.
I had one of the 9 remaining eggs quit on me about day 15. One of the 8 eggs quit last night. 7 made it to lockdown and one has officially pipped so far!
When I removed the quitter all the rest were still moving and I had three internal pips. I could hear soft cheeping :)
So I am very hopeful the remaining 7 will hatch but would be happy if I only got six because the eBay listing was for 12 eggs so I would still technically hit 50% of what I paid for. Which is the ideal for shipped eggs as we all know. :)
Regardless, the seller will get a positive review and details that all but 3 of 18 began development. 6 stopped because of me (or my turkey) and so far just 2 quitters.

Normal for me to have that many issues forgetting a egg? Lol no never but because it was so tiny and the only thing in the inc I didn't see it and had just hatched out some ducks so needed to clean it. Normal as far as the shipped eggs I dunno never had problems when I bought from BYC sellers so I personally think I'll quit trying to save a $ and keep buying from people on here instead because in the long run I'm really not saving anything. I also never toss eggs with "blood rings" for 5 days after I first see them to make sure its truly not growing... these bad boys were stiiiiiiiinky and definitely had nothing in them :-( oh well ya live and learn I guess

I meant normal as in, it doesn't walk with a limp after being tossed around so much?!?! lol. I agree with the "blood rings", I have had them hatch out.

It was a sad but cool learning experience on the blood rings. All that had developed was the heart and I was able to watch that tiny thing beat for about 10 minutes! I am so amazed what is done in only one day's worth of development.

Two external pips now! :) I thought I could hear movement too!

Two have hatched so far with two more pips for sure!
The first one to hatch I thought might have a weirdly shaped head but it was hard to tell. I'll study it better when they get moved to the brooder but she's acting fine right now!
The second one hatched but had what looks like the umbilical cord wrapped around her leg and some odd toes on one foot. So I think I'll have to splint the toes tomorrow.

I was wondering if it is common for shipped eggs to hatch chicks with odd qualities and possible deformities?
