I hate that. I'm so sorry. That's been the most frustrating part of this whole thing with the Buttons... I can't candle them! I can only tell by the way they feel. I've only had one so far that pipped but died. Now the Bobwhites are white eggs... I can see into those... one is developing quite nicely. 3 in the bator, 2 more to go in soon.

Yeah I heard that buttons are hard to candle. I have the manchurian coturnix eggs and they are extremely hard to candle with the brown spots all over.

I lost two halfway out the egg. But I do have 5 fully hatched now and the first four are eating and drinking on their own. I'm waiting on the last 4 eggs to see what they do. SO far they pipped but no further progress. But I do have pics now.

The little one staring right at the camera was the chick that hatched with some partial yolk still. I was worried I would find him dead in the morning but instead he was bouncing about the brooder like crazy! He couldn't stand still and kinda reminded me of those used car lot owners who scream about how crazy they are so I took to dubbing him Crazy Larry for some reason lol. Crazy Larry seems to like to play under the paper towels as well. He gets under one end and runs until he reaches the other.

These are the first two chicks to hatch just relaxing in the brooder. They are the laid back chicks so far.

They are hatching an escape plan.....I just know it.

I checked the last five eggs today, and found two fully developed, but dead; two others had started to develop, and the other egg was rotton. Nasty! I cleaned out the incubator and restocked so I am waiting again. I received 24 silkie eggs from Linda, one broken, and put 25 of my own eggs in with the silkie eggs. Yep, 48 eggs in the incubator.
My little guy with the thing on his bottom, passed on today. Was a sad moment.
Believe it or not, but I sold all 19 of them tonight. They go to their new home on Sunday after church. Not sure that I wanted to sell them all, but I did. There are more in the incubator, and I can hatch as many as I want to now.

I have my very first batch of silkies (I've waited a YEAR for silkies) 15 eggs in total that I noticed on has pipped on! They are actually due tomorrow, so I am vey eggcited

I also have 8 rouen eggs of my own that are in there due the 27th, so the silkies & ducks are going to battle it out together in the bator

This is my 1st time trying hatching in the milk cartoon...but I am doing it a ghetto way.

Checking my eggs tonight, I noticed a small slight crack in the shell on the bottom and what looks like the start of a pip on th side. I didn't see the egg move so I am hoping that on Day 24 it means something. Oh, I am keeping my fingers crossed and hope there is more progression tomorrow morning.

OMG... they are adorable!!! I want some!!! LOL!
Congratulations momma!

I couldn't see into the Button Quail eggs at all. The Bobwhite was easy, since it was white, but even with a really strong light I couldn't do it. Very frustrating! We didn't get any pips today, so I'm thinking they're done. Wednesday was the last day according to the calendar, so I'm waiting til tomorrow, but after that we're done. I need to get the incubator ready to loan out for a homeschool project.
