Who knew roo/hen "sex" could be soooo violent? yikes!!!

My mother gets mad at her rooster for mating her hens (calls it attacking them) and then turns right around and practically BEGS me to put some of her eggs in the incubator to hatch for her. I tried explaining she can't have it both ways. Either her girls get rough nookie or she doesn't get babies from her eggs. *SIGH*

I've never had to deal with this... that is until we got a sole duckling that ended up being male. He totally attacks our chickens and has his way with them. They can't get away from him fast enough.

I'm trying to send him up to live with Terrie. Anybody want to be a duck taxi up north?

I found out that my HUGE black orp roo was old enough to breed when he chased down a much smaller white orp, grabbed her by the back of the neck and stood on her while she screamed. I was trying not to laugh. He must not have it figured out yet. No, he will not be going into a casserole- he's just doing his thing which is all right with me- that's what I got him for.

I have a drake and two hens. He doesn't get any loving yet but the ducks hang out in a posse by themselves just like my Orps do. Could we have turf wars over love making soon?
