Who the Duck?!?

The metal dog bowl is ful of water for the babies to duck their heads and splash in and the whole rabbit cage is made of 1/2 inch hardware cloth.
The bigger ducks got a kiddie pool.
The waterer is just for clean drinking water after they make a mess of their bowl.
Once we get some supplike we need we will make a ramp and set up a bigger splash/swimming pool for the little ones.

Oh okay hard to tell by pics and sure wouldn't want you and dd to come out to the carnage some have found when not using proper material to house their flock in. Enjoy your new ducks.

Thankyou for the help and advice. I have had chickens before but never ducks.
Hubby thought the babies would get to scared last night so he put them in the duck house and apparently Mama Duck tucked them into the group as soon as she saw them.
Howard was in a separate pen over night.
This morning Hubby put the babies back in the brooder before turning Howard loose just in case. He didn't tell me any of this until this morning. Then when I went outside Mama Duck had pushed the gate open and was hunting around for something calling out. The babies were answering from the brooder. Do you think she is trying to adopt them? They got loose and were with her for a couple hours yesterday and none of her other babies bothered them at all.

Your experiences from the beginning with your whole situation with Howard have been so touching. Thank you for sharing this part of your life with us. My husband even asks for the daily updates when he gets home from work!

Thank you. I was just so surprised when he came waddling out of the grass I had to share and then when he left I was so sad. When he came back I was thrilled and now he has been here for three or four days without going home I don't think he will leave unless they come and take him.

I hope they understand how happy he is with you and your family! If they do, I think they would certainly want him to stay with you.

Sounds like she has adopted them so keep a close eye on them when they are with her just to make sure the older ducklings aren't picking on them and mama is keeping them close.

Sounds like Howard has found a home. I am happy for Him and you all.

They are in the brooder now...should I put them with her instead? The farm we got them from had all different aged babies running around together and when they were loose yesterday the big babies were okay with them and Howard ran away from them. It was hilarious watching tiny babies the size of his head chasing him around.
