My incubator died!! I went to turn my duck eggs this morning, and the temp was at 82 degrees! These poor things were almost halfway through their incubation, I hope it didn't kill all of them!

I put them in a different incubator, but they were already cool to the touch. I hope at least some of them make it!

I just candled last night, and I had 13 cayugas, 5 pekins, and 1 goose egg that were going strong. I'll have to wait a few days and candle again to see if there are any effects.

I have had two power outages during my current incubation(s) and still have way more than half growing. The temps in mine got down in the 70s for about 4 hours each time. You may have to wait extra days for the eggs to hatch because dips in temps make them slow down. GOOD LUCK!

Thanks all. I candled them last night, and I *think* I lost only one of the pekins. The goose egg looks like it may have quit too, but they all look weird? It's like there is something in the air cell? I don't know, maybe it's because they were on their sides, and now they are in a turner, so it just makes them look different?

I did see some of them moving, and most of them still had visible veins, though not as noticeable as they were before. But that could be the lighting as well. The incubator they are in is in the spare bedroom, which has some baby ducks in a brooder, and some button quail as well, so I couldn't get it 'pitch dark' in there, without freaking everyone out!

If they are moving then I bet they will be okay!!!

I came home from *ANOTHER* Christmas party last night, and my incubator was reading almost 103 degrees! When I checked the "high/low" reading it looked like it had gotten to 103.3 at some point.

.. Could not have been for TOO long, 3 or 4 hours tops, but I almost had a heart attack. I think it was because the stupid weather here has been so erratic, was 20 degrees a week ago and 69F yesterday!!! My bator is in a spare bedroom with door closed, thermostat for house is ALWAYS at 69F... room temp seemed really stable but I guess the warm weather was enough to throw it off enough to impact the incubator (styrofoam still air).

I hope nobody broiled or got damaged.
