All very valid points
For me, I was previously married to a personnal trainer/body builder. My life was all consummed with that life style. Since my divorce from him-I now find my self 10 years later fat and pretty happy. I just can't get my self to get back into the swing of things- I am now 45 going on 46 and find that I have that yucky belly fat right out in front. Never had it before, do now and It's not going away. The "treatment effects" are a good way to keep my fat grams honest. I plan on only using Alii to jump start things. Once I see some progress I know my self well enough by now to know that I can stop Alii and continue without it. I am taking on the process of starting my 45 thousand mile tune up.

I opened the box today and read the material. Looks okay to me. I am not afraid of the "treatment effects". What cool is you go online and enter your code they give you in the box and you get all of this support, ie...online meal plans, support emails and reminders, online journal, calculates your BMI, etc. Very much like Weight Watchers Online but it's free with the purchase of the starter pack- just enter your code. I have set my plan to begin low fat eating next Tuesday, and beging the Alii next Sat. It's recommended to start that way....keep you posted..........

edited to say; I could take a placebo but would I get sick if I ate to much fat? No. Alii could be a good way to "teach a lesson"............All I know is I have tried WW ....I do okay for awhile and fall off the wagon again. I get tired of the women in the meetings asking the coach If one cup of strawberries could be sliced v. whole because they can pack more in the cup......these women obsess over food. I've tried on my own many times to start eating right but I love food, I am a good cook and I go back for seconds, I rarely eat fast food. If the threat of pooing my pants for a while keeps my fat gram honest then so be it. Just like I don't like to take pills for pain but if it makes the pain go away then so be it......

I quit smoking 3-21-08, listed our home for sale 4-11-08 and the entire start of 08 was spent painting every room in our home. This was a 2 1/2 story 1900yr old home with a finished attic and finished basement so it was quite a chore to paint and get ready to sell. My stress level was beyond normal and in all that I put on about 15-20pounds. I have always taken good care of myself and that extra weight has really bothered me. I'm not southern but I love comfort foods and yes those are usually high in fat!! With Alli I can still eat those in moderation. I do realize this pill is not for everyone and God Bless you if you can just eat a healthy diet and not need pills, someday maybe I'll be completely happy with myself and not feel I need to take this pill until then, I'll just remove the mirrors from my home!!

A lot of people that eat a healthy diet wonder that about fat people. For the most part the answer is simple. Fat people usually like unhealthy foods and eating is one of their big pleasures in life. I am fat and I have been since I was 7. I lost about 50 lbs when I was 18 and stayed at around 220 till I was 23 when I lost another 50 lbs. I lost the 2nd 50 lbs through a very strict healthy diet and a lot of exercise. I had bad dreams about eating stuff not on my diet. When I was 24 I joined the Army. I steadily gained back my weight to 220 lbs. We did 30 minutes of calesthentics and ran 4 miles every day. Right now I'm 265 and 50 years old. I am trying to diet but it seems like a lost cause. The stats on weight loss prove it out and I don't feel like I will likely be the 1 out of 10 that keeps their weight off.

I think genes do have something to do with it. We have 2 biological kids between us. My 21 year old is obese and is ok enough with it she doesn't try to loose it. My 17 year old started getting fat at 15 and joined track. He eats crummy but burns it off. We have 5 adopted children from 5 different gene pools. Four of them are skinny and eat quite a lot as well as candy on rare occasions. One eats quite a lot and is overweight.

So the question of why don't we just eat healthy should only be asked by someone who has been fat and has kept their weight off at least 5 years. When you are fat and have lost weight it's easy to criticize fat people because you lost it why can't they. However if you are in those shoes save the criticisms for a few years. Even after you loose weight there is still a fat person inside and the new skinny person is terrified they will get out again.

It's not that hard to avoid fat. I took a double dose of the Alli to equal prescription strength. I learned to live with the side effects. I only had 1 accident and i was minor. But when it was time to go it was time to go. The problem with cutting fat out of the diet is that the natural replacement is carbs. They are just as bad if no worse because they raise blood sugar and help to cause insulin resistance.

So the choice is low fat protein and green vegetables. Healthy people enjoy that but fat people tend to get burned out pretty quick. Hence the failure in diets.

Whoah whoah whoah - wait a sec Beak and please back up for a moment - I in no way, shape or form brought overweight people into this mix, so do not go putting words into my mouth, please. I resent that very much as you make it sound like I was attacking a certain class of people and I wasnt. I would NEVER judge anyone and I clearly stated that. That being said, you clearly do not know if I struggled with my weight myself, nor if my husband does either - or any other member of my family.

I merely asked some valid questions, I feel. Being a woman - I have tried (as have most women in today's society) without success just about every diet and/or diet pill / shake known to man and have friends that have done the same. Most of my friends have suffered irreversible damage due to certain pills either RX or OTC, doesnt matter and I myself suffered heart damage because of diet pills. Too many issues there and I learned the hard way. Do pills and diets work? Yes, sometimes... however is it teaching anyone anything for the rest of their lives? No - because it must be a lifestyle CHANGE that one must do and with that change in your diet comes a change in your life and counseling for ones' personal self. I LOVE watching The Biggest Loser - it is a WONDERFUL SHOW and it shows that no matter WHAT your weight is - you CAN do it without pills through diet and exercise - and personal counseling for individuals. It is a wonderful show and I am in awe of people that go on that show and all over the country that choose to join in and do the same.

That being said - again, I never once said anything about overweight people and the choices they make regarding taking pills or not - that is a personal decision and I am not going to judge anyone. All I want is caution because I've lost 1 friend to the Phen/Fen diet craze that was "FDA approved and safe" and 2 more have severe heart damage due to it. I am cautious now of any diet pill because of this - especially one that "flushes excess fat" out of a body that you choose to ingest to begin with. My questions and concerns were valid I believe....and I'd hate to have anyone 1-2 years from now damaged in their intestines and/or stomachs because research wasnt done enough.

I took Zelnorm for years and years for IBS and it worked wonderfully for me - then they pulled it off the market - why? Because some elderly people had strokes and issues with it. Is it back? No... but was it safe for years? Yes....

I wanted to buy this product- really badly. My girlfriend said the dr told her the prescription strength was twice the strength of the otc product. Sooo, in my mental state- I figured I would double what the bottle said to take...

then I heard the words, "picky seepage".

I am a veterinary technician- I wrestle dogs for a living and end up playing a doggie Twister game with my coworkers on a rough day (nail trims, blood draws, bandage changes, xrays- dogs never think it is a good idea, and we end up in some very twisted and compromising positions to hold the animal in the proper position, and so nobody gets bit).

Can you imagine?

I decided to just be fat. Fat but no picky seepage.

LOL. you and I have the same job and it's the VERY reason I didn't try this drug. Now the gas, we could blame on a nervous dog, but the other....well, there is no way we can pass that off......hahaha

IN th epast 3 months I have lost 31 lbs.. I exercise daily and just watch my calorie intake along with using protein shakes as a meal replacement. I eat 6 meals a day with 3 being breakfast, lunch, dinner with snacks in between. I do stay somewhat hungry all day but I have found that if I only intake 1800 calories per day with the protien and eating fish twice a day I atleast don't starve. I am a paramedic and work on an ambulance and it is hard to control what I eat. I don't tell myself I am on a diet because I am on a lifestyle change. Make sure how you eat is a way you can continue to do so you won't change back to old habits and gain your weight back. I started at 299.8 and now at 269. It is a battle and yes it sucks working out everday but it's worth it. If you need the pills take em just make sure you will be able to live without them.
