Whoud Marans be a good chicken breed to start with

I'm thinking of getting Marans when I move back to my farm I've seen some good reviews on them I'm intresed in them because I'm quarter French and half of that comes throm the arrea near the place Marans came from . So are Marans a good starter chicken

Marans are a fine breed, depending on what you want them for. They are decent layers, decent meat birds, and can be on the flighty side personality-wise. They have very beautiful eggs. However, they can be difficult to obtain and definitely run on the pricey side, even for hatchery chicks.
