Why did my hen die? And should I be concerned for the rest of the flock

It was not unusually hot. I do live in Hawaii, but at 2700 feet elevation, so fairly cool here, especially at night. Humidity is also lower than in other areas of the island.
No other birds were affected by whatever it was.
But what temperature, exactly?

I'm thinking the death could've been either weather related, or Genetics Related.

Probably around 80 at most during the day, 60s at night. I did not inform the breeder I got the eggs I hatched her from. Though might be worth asking him if he experienced similar incidents with his birds. I do know he is no longer offering the silver laced orps for sale. I believe he is focusing on other breeds.
Great questions, thank you! 🙂

80s is pretty hot for an excessively fluffy bird.

Yeah, it wouldn't hurt to ask about the death with the breeder.

You're welcome.

She could have internally hemorrhaged. It happens sometimes after a hen struggles to lay an egg. It's not common, but does happen.

One way to know, is to cut her open for a Necropsy.
Good to know! She did struggle for a while with leather eggs and weird pigmentations but for a few weeks before she died her eggs had been consistently perfect.
