Hello - I am tired of googling random search words so I thought I'd see if someone here has answers for me. My ameraucana rooster has died. Two days ago I noticed he had one eye slightly closed. Maybe halfway. It looked good, no sign of injury or infection. So I thought I'd give it a day, maybe debris was in it. Yesterday I checked him again and it was no better or worse. His behaviour was normal but to be honest we were busy and didn't spend a lot of time with him. While I was at work my daughter let the birds out to free range, she later told me everyone behaved as they always do, excited to come out. Then by 2pm he was found laying in the grass dead. He has no injury and still the eye looks normal. My husband noticed he still has grass in his beak, as if he just keeled over while foraging. What gives?
