Why do so many of you (us) want roosters?

Because I like them.

all the reasons you want roosters. And those pictures are just beautiful! I love the family picture and I'm sure there's got to be more than one of those adorable white chicks around.

So on the way home tonight I told my husband I decided I wanted a rooster..... he got all quiet and rolled his eyes... do you think means YES! Ok so maybe not...

But you all are warming me up. Maybe I could plant a rooster in the coop with out him knowing it!
Thanks you all you've given such great feedback!!!!

break hubby in easy. build the roo palace as far from his bedroom window as you can... it will help him to get used to the sound a bit at a time, so by the time you own a half dozen roos he won't even notice!

I love my Roos, they crow in the morning and this week, after the electricity went out, they made sure I was on time for work. All my roosters have there own few girls, and I know who goes with who, because the sit on different rungs in the coop.

Plus the Roos are the most beautiful in the bunch.

I want Roos for the look, more chicks, and the meat. So, All of the above.

I keep mine for fertilized eggs. I also like to look at the roosters because the roosters are much more ornamental than hens. I also enjoy hearing them crow.

But, we don't have neighbors that it would bother. We don't have small children running around, the youngest is 10(we don't tolerate aggressive birds irregardless.) And it does get very annoying when the roosters are fighting amongst themselves(we don't tolerate over-aggressive roosters when it comes to this, mild aggression is natural).

I think roosters (at least bantam roos) are very affectionate!!

More affectionate than my bantam hens. The hens are more clicky and like to group up like in a coffee clutch.

I have an ameracuana roo, was supposed to be a hen, I ordered 2 hens but I guess the chick sexing cant be 100% on the money. Anyway, i'm getting rid of all my roos but i gotta keep him, he's just too much of a prettyboy to kill.
he looks alot like this only he is just about 16 weeks old so not quite as developed as this one

so long as he doesnt cause me grief with the neighbors, he's safe
