Why Doesn't My Silkie Chicken Lay an Egg

Looks like a Silkie hen all right! Silkies don't lay very many eggs in the first place. Sometimes a hen will never lay an egg for her entire life. Give her time, and wait until the days are longer--chickens prefer to see 14 hours of daylight before starting up laying again in the spring. Maybe because she's an indoor chicken she doesn't get enough daylight to tell her that it's spring and she can begin laying.
She gets a lot of light so I don't think it could be that. Her cage is in the kitchen/dinning room and the light comes in, in a sliding patio door, and a window on her side of the house. But thank you for your other suggestion. It might be just because she is a silkie. I am finding out they are different then my 8 girls outside that layed about 18 to 20 weeks. I WILL TRY TO BE PATIENT OR JUST SAY OH WELL

We will just love her and enjoy her even if she doesn't give us breakfast. We get enough from the girls outside.

Even if she gets the full amount of daylight through the windows, we are not getting 14 hours of daylight right now because it's winter. And I don't know about other peoples' hens, but my girls can tell the difference between artificial light and sunlight (of course, it's another story entirely for my rooster).

I agree about the daylight. Also, What are you feeding her?
We feed her layer food. She is a funny girl, we try to feed her fruits/veggies, but she doesn't like them. She does like apples and that is about it. She doesn't like her beak dirty a little bit so she eats something wet and does nothing but wipe and wipe and then would eat anymore. I told you she was funny

She doesn't know she is a chicken! She thinks she is a kid/poodle. She has to be clean all the time. If she gets something on her she cleans and cleans till it is gone. Guess she's been in the house to long. She could never survive outside. She goes outside, but I have to go with her. She even goes on trips with us in the motorhome.

I have 4 outdoor Silkie's... they hate anything soft or mushy or anything that clings to their beak. Very persnickety eaters so far! I was really hoping they would help out by eating my kitchen scraps.....NOT! I have to agree with the fact that outdoor direct sunlight is not the same as indirect light.

Congrats to your very sweet girl!
Did you really do this wonderful diaper by your selfe? Such nice gorgeous frills!!
If I could I would order some straight away for my silkies!

She is sooooo adorable!!! I'm raising a lavender chick right now. I plan to tame her too. I hear silkies r very broody...maybe reason she stays in kennel
