Why I love my geese!

I do love my geese more than my other birds.

I love watching geese play. The newest game is flipping the metal handles on the galvanized trash can. Clang. Clang. Clangclang clang, one on each side, the third impatiently awaiting her turn.

I love the chubby cheeks of goslings; mine are almost 8 weeks old and much of the fluff on their necks has disappeared. But their faces are still chubbier than the adults.

Submarine swimming! Not only is it amazing to watch goslings swoosh around in the kiddie pool, but when a full grown gander works up enough dive power to swim submerged from one end of the 15 foot long pool to the other is such a hoot.

How about when they tip over farther in a bottoms up move, falling sideways and recovering without grace?

The inquisitive, mournful little hoot when they don't understand something, like Where did the stock tank go? (It was drained and removed for the waterfowl pool build.)

You can SEE geese think.
