Why Orpingtons?

Okay Orp experts....Orps have always been my favorites of all my different breeds in my laying flock. The buffs were part of my first chicks purchased about 7 years ago, and I still have 4 hens from that original purchase. I am now branching out into blue/black/splash and have chicks and hatching eggs on the way. I know all about the way blue/black/splash works, but how does buff x black, and buff x splash work? What do you get?

Thanks I really love her color. I feel lucky to have gotten her. She was part of a trio but unfortunately I lost the roo in transport. I wish I knew what to breed her to for the sake of continuing the color.

Well, it should be fun "playing" with all the colors...lol. Beauty Queen sure is pretty....I sure wouldn't mind the chicks turning out like her.

This is my buff x blue cockeral I hatched from eggs from TOH

In the sun he is really brassy red and the black feathers sheen deep green.

He is really pretty to look at but I just don't have the room to keep more roos.

He is gorgeous with that red coloring.. I know they have Red Orps in England, but of course don't they have every color we wish we could get our hands on.

You people are very very BAD. Here I've got my flock all picked out, and you have to go and make me drool over orps again.

The main reason I decided against orps was the size. I'd really prefer to stick with smaller "standard" breeds. But how about bantam orps? Anybody here got them?
