My gelding had a large turtle he was carrying around the back yard. If someone just came up it would probably look like he was trying to eat it, but he was really playing with it. He was so upset when I made him give it up and let it loose.

It is not unheard of for a horse to have carnivore moments. I have read of them eating dead animals, rodents and such. I have also heard of horses that love burgers!!!!

We have a morgan named Otis that loves burgers but he will eat anything that you feed him by hand.

At the farm I used to work at one of the stallions used to stomp on mice and eat them before I could get them out of his pen.It was icky.

I've seen video footage of white tailed deer eating baby birds out of their nests so it doesn't seem that far a stretch to imagine a horse would eat a bird. One of our goats eats chicken eggs when he can find them.

that stallion sounds like he was bored to take time to kill mice and eat them LOL That's gross, I have seen my mares eat dirt when I first got them, but we got them mineral blocks and they haven't done it since...

Wow I use to show horses for fifteen years and never saw a horse eat anythin like that. Only thing weird my one horse would eat was a onion. But he was weird about food , he loved cheese nips too. And we had one horse that if you gave him a mint candy he would curl his tongue around it and suck it. Slup slup slup.. was so funny.
But nope not dead animals eww... Maybe horse was starving ?
