WICKED! (The Musical) (Other musicals welcome!)

There has been discussion about Lea playing Elphaba since she left Spring Awakening a few years back. Iirc, Wicked was originally pitched as a movie... It would be interesting to see it pulled off!!!

I saw it the first time in New York, the following three times in San Francisco (the older sister of a friend from elementary school landed the role of Elphaba so I had to be supportive

). Next year will be number five. The funny thing is I had the same Glinda (Kendra Kassebaum) the first three times I saw the show, even though it was over a three year span. I love that you have a huge poster!!! The first time I saw it you could buy the poster with signatures of all of the cast members and so of course I had to! I still made my girlfriend at the time wait with me so I could get my picture taken with Elphie

I saw it twice at the Pantages in Los Angeles. The first time I saw it was with Shoshana Bean as Elphaba and Megan Hilty as Galinda/Glinda. Eden Espinoza playing as Elphaba the second time and Kate Reinders was Galinda/Glinda. I wish I could have seen Idena Menzel and Kristen Chenoweth in those roles, since they are my favorite broadway actresses by far, but I loved Eden and Megan. I wish I could have seen them together.

Tylt33 you have such good taste in musicals. One of the amazing things about stage is that it can be subtly different each time. It would be so easy to see it so frequently-- And I bet that each time you saw something a little different and enjoyed it. How fabulous to have the cast signed poster. How fabulous to know Elphaba. wow.

WickedNerd--

woah..that must have been something to see. The Pantages is a great theater.

It would have been amazing to see Idena Menzel and Kristen Chenoweth -- but I also like every person who gets a meaty role like those -- and the variations that they incorporate. I saw something where Patty Duke Aston was playing Madame Morrible in the Seattle Production, and was the Broadway one where Joel Gray was the Wizard.

whew this thread is bringing it all back.

wouldn't it be great (eventhough movies can't hold a candle to plays) if Idena Menzel and Kristen Chenoweth got the movie roles. I know it wouldn't happen...because they are broadway names not hollywood names.... but that would be great for everyone.

I have a tattoo on my back inspired by this musical. I designed it and it's the same as my avatar. I know it's completely nerdy and fangirlish, but I can't help it. I was going through the end of my marriage and the beginning of the divorce when I saw this musical and the concepts surrounding it were very comforting to me. Furthermore, I've loved the Wizard of Oz since I was three and always wondered why the wicked witch was the way she was.
