wierd, strange, unusal and just down right wrong names for Kids.

One of my 2nd grade teacher's was Mrs. Lear. I can't remember if it was her inlaws or her, that named their daughter Shanda.

Chandelier? C'mon now... That's just ridiculous.

Although everyone I know gives me grief about naming my sons after Irish saints. Saint Kieran (keer-inn) and Saint Declan (deck-lynn). I've heard them BOTH before and they're commonly used in Ireland. We're proud of our heritage, I don't see why people think it's okay to criticize what I name my children. Every single time we have a doctor visit, the nurses pronounce them wrong and then roll their eyes at me and make a comment about their names. "De Clan? Wow."... Had I spelled it the original 'Deaglan', they'd REALLY have a h*ll of a time of it, huh?

I love names that reflect someone's heritage. I've noticed that people in general who don't read very many books have a harder time with names. I think it's a matter of seeing it in print. I knew how to say your children's names, because I've seen these before and recognized them, but some of these others with "creative spelling" I would never get.

My girls are Katelyn Grace, and Hannah Kennedy. I had Katelyn picked out for years before it became popular. Kennedy is a paternal grandmothers maiden name.

One of my daughters friends is Faith Princess. My mom was named Marvel, and she named my sisters Avonelle and Tracy, my name is Germaine, and my brother is Delbert Ross.

My cousins name is Richard Long. I went to school with Richard Head. I worked with a guy named Philip Phillips. A supervisor where I used to work was named Charlie Brown.

I'm a newborn nurse and I've seen all sorts of wild names.

my favorite was a little boy named Richard Balls, We all sat around working the night shift laughing at the poor thing having to go through life as Dick Balls.

my husband went to school with a kid named Dick pickle, he said every time they took a standardized test he had to bite the inside of his mouth to keep from laughing because he knew the poor guy was writing "Pickle, Dick" at the top of the test.

I agree, it's a matter of familiarity with names. Common names are never mispronounced... after all, how hard is Jane? LOL

And my MILs side of the family are Quinn's. DH's cousins named all their girl's middle names Quinn.

I would always sign up for freebies with the name Wayne Dwops... all over the mall I would sign up for these stupid things that would get mailed to my parents house with dumb names on them. I.P Freeley...all the silly ones I could think of. My parents got very fed up with me and pretty much ordered me to stop it or I was banned from going to the mall.

The only unusual name in the family is my sisters... her name is Kendi Jo. My brother is Shane Norman. I ended up with a very tame Christi Leigh.
