Wild or dumped ducks?

I contacted multiple rescues, but unfortunately no one is willing to lend time or resources, a lot are actually refusing to help/catch/take in birds entirely at the moment due to influenza. There is a person that I know of though, who has rescued domestic ducks that were dumped in the past, she lives locally, but I haven't heard back from her. If she does get back to me, she may be willing to help with her capture, I figured it was worth a shot
I hope you hear from her:fl

If she’ll come for food, could you try getting a mobile dog pen and luring her into it with treats? Something like this:

We recently caught some dumped ducks in a park using this method, and I don’t think we ever could have caught them otherwise.

If you end up going this route, here are a few tips: the door isn’t super useful since it’s hard for a duck to step over the lip, but most dog pens like this also have a spot where you can disconnect the walls as well. We realized that standing far away and tossing the treats into the dog pen was the best way to lure them in. After they were well into the pen, we ran and closed it, but I bet you could also tie something to it and pull it closed.

Desperate times may call for desperate measures. If there’s not a group out there that will help, reach out to the whole non-duck community. There are people out there who would answer your call to help her. If you can assemble a large enough group to act as a “human fence” around her once she’s on land…. enough people to encircle her to where she could not escape through, then you would have a solid chance. I’ve been following your journey to save that sweet duck. Fingers crossed. Good Wishes.

This is how I got some off our river that had been dumped.

It depends, as yesterday was the first catch attempt where we were able to keep her on land, usually she stays on the water, I'm a little worried I won't be able to get her back up again, but I will try and it couldnt hurt to have a pen ready

that is true! I may have to. Honestly I feel so dissapointed, I'm confident I could have gotten her yesterday if the one person willing to come would have just stepped in to help corner her... But they didn't, and I didnt have the backup I needed to be able to get her. I guess I don't need anyone who knows about ducks, since I can catch/handle and take her myself, but it would be ideal if this person who has done this before gets back to me, fingers crossed 🤞
