the critter in the picture the fur does not look right for a nute it looks like a beaver that lost its tail the fur of a nute is a really coarse fur even when wet the back foot looks more beaver ish too a muskrat and a nute and a beaver foot look a lot alike just larger / smaller

It does look like a tailless beaver. That was actually my first thought, but how would a tailless beaver survive? Wouldn't it be impossible for it to swim?

I think that first pic is a Bobcat. I have seen quiet a few and my folks have three of them on the walls in their house. Looks like a very furry Bobcat, nice thick winter coat (which is why I think the tail appears longer/bigger than would be expected from a Bobcat.)

Just my two cents.

for some reason I only got to see the sencond piccy Nutes swim quiet well with out the tail a beaver has their back feet are really large and webbed like a duck's, beavers have the same back feet. I catch a coupla animals a year that have been hit by vehicles that have been run over pretty hard and still getting around. the first piccy looks like a house cat the tail is all wrong for a Bobkittie

Back foot is too small for beaver (2nd pic) ... However, whatever those critters are, I'm kinda glad we haven't seen any such animals around these parts. Thanks for sharing those interesting pictures. BTW.
