Will my duck get broody?

They did not go back into their house and left the eggs alone. The one that made another nest outside did not use it today, she laid her egg in the house like the rest of them.

I hope they get hormonal this evening. :)

I will see how it goes. I hope the eggs I got were fresh.

This evening, ladies went inside (I had to chase them a few times around their house, like usual... - they prefer the pond :)) and I locked them up. Then I decided to take a peek inside and give them a bit of straw, just in case they need it. I opened the side (I made it to easily clean the house and enable it to dry faster) and tossed in the straw. They were all gathered around the eggs, standing above them, watching them so focused that they failed to even see me opening the house.

I also gave them superworms this evening. As a treat before they went to bed. They need to start visiting the house more readily :)

You might of jumped too soon with the fertile eggs..
Once they start setting and actually acting Broody then you swap fertile for the Dud eggs..
I see that now :)
I have had a feeling that one of them is already acting broody. Refusing to lay during the night and early morning, making new nest and laying her eggs there. Now with the eggs in their house she stopped visiting her own nest and did the egg laying inside the house. There was some egg turning as well, because they were positioned in perfect circle and the nest was somewhat enlarged to hold that many eggs. I think they do show some interest, but it might be too early because their hormone level is not high enough.

Perhaps their gathering around the nest full of eggs tonight was about who gets to sit on them and who doesn't. :)

PS: Yesterday, I only saw one hen noticing the eggs. Others ignored it and went straight to the opposite side of the house where they sleep - and poop.

Hmmm...I'll be 100% honest and don't think your bought eggs will hatch without and incubator and it might be too late.
Don't mess with a Broody Duck because they are easy to break from the trance..You have to wait till they Seriously nest and then go from that point..
Nothing like Chickens at all ...

I do have a plan of taking several eggs and place them into my tiny incubator..

This morning, I found one egg they took out of the nest. It was marked, so it is fertilized. By closely examining the egg, I found a tiny crack in the shell. It had the crack when I got it, but since it was so small, I just marked it and place it with all the other eggs.

During the day at least one of them went inside to check on the eggs. She didn't turn them or anything, just pushed the straw cover away a bit and check if everything is still in place.

Can they count? :D

Update:

This morning, one of the ducks remained in the house, laying on the eggs. She went out eventually, and I took out 2 eggs the other hens laid this morning. She did not lay for 2 days now.
Eggs were warm, but she eventually started hanging out with her two companions rather than sitting on her eggs. It all ended when the other two started calling her loudly, then she went out calling them back. Now they roam around like usually.

Nice try... :p
