Will my muscoveies ever stop being a-holes?

Honestly she has lots of places to hide with all the coops in there. She just chooses to stay near the muscovies, she is somewhat bonded to them even though they’re mean to her. We’ll just have to see how it goes! Thanks so much for all your help! I looked into mallards from Metzer farms. So I guess come Spring, we’ll be getting more ducklings by mail!

Oh and our WH will be staying in their new coop for the first week or two before we start letting them out with everyone during the day! We’ll let them out after work to free range with everyone so they get more acquainted but I’m too nervous to leave them out during the day while we’re gone with so many older bullies. One of our hens likes to pick on them, and then there Shadow who’s really mean to them. So they’re definitely going to stay in their coops for awhile!

I have manny breeds. First your Rouen / mallard..this question can be answered quickly..size..mallards are typically 3-4 lbs...Rouen much larger birds, and not much for flying.they can look identical because they are relatives..a cross breed. Buy size will be the key.

ok, i have 10 Muscovy out of 43 ducks. They do tend to stick to themselves. I think you need to find a friend for the other. Maybe even a few breeds. I’ve found pekins to be the most laid back. Muscovies, in my farm, are the tamest and make no noise and are very friendly. You might try separating them temporarily and doing the reintroduction one bird at a time so she up is not overwhelmed. I often times find them hissing due to nervousness. Maybe give them some lay-off room and see what happens for a Fay? Good lick and help ud posted!

Another couple of Mallards would be ideal. Great pictures, y’all have made a nice place for them very roomy. Beautiful ducks:love

We’ll definitely look into more ducklings (as well as chicks because we need 8 more hens for our rooster) come Spring but she’ll have to make due with what she’s got now and that’s two muscovies & two WH’s. I really think she’s just still hurting from her sister disappearing and leaving her so lonely! I let everyone (except my babies) out of their coops this morning and everyone seems pleased with just getting to come out of their coops instead of being cooped up all day long! So fingers crossed everyone’s happy and not hurt when we get home this evening! Is it possible for my male Muscovy to try an mate with Shadow? She’s so small, I feel like it would not go well but it is a fear of mine!

He may my med size rooster mates my tiny OEGB hen and even though he’s med size he is huge compared to her. But my Muscovy drake has never mates with my Buffs or Runner females
