Williamston, NC Swap & Sell March 22

I'll bring 2 pair of geese (members choice)
40 Full grown hens 10 of each, Barred rocks, Black sex links, Red sexlinks, White leghorns,
And a pair of my black cochins. I need a head count of folks.
I can bring up to 200 birds if needed. all npip approved.
Let me know. Who wants what, so i can make sure i bring enough.
All birds are less than a year old.
But all birds are also laying. raised organic.

Just wanted to remind everyone to bring their "green" cards with
them to the sale. If you do not have one it is still not too late to
get one. It takes about a week.

uh what is a 'green' card?

It's a selling License. given by the statse. normally like 5.00
But if get one you need to hurry.
I dont think they are needed or required for this type of thing.
There is some sort of grandpa law that conflicts with the small chicken raisers. I have to have one because i'm considered "Comercial" or so they say.
Anyhow.

They are free, everyone who sales poultry needs to have one, if you are
selling from some place other then your home. For example, if you
go to any of the shows, you see people in the parking lots selling, they
all have greencards. They are good for 1 year. Contact the NC Dept of
Agriculture & consumer Services, Veterinary Divsion. It takes about
a week to go one. You simplyly fill out 1 page. Here is the link,
http://www.agr.state.nc.us/vet/chkdealr.htm
You give them a call with your address. They
will get an application out to you ASAP. If you don't want to call
there is a link in the left column of that page that says "Contact
Us". That way you can request the application through email.

Please call them and talk to them in person to see what kind of
license you need. There seems to be some discussion as to
exactly what you need in order to sell chicks/chickens. I will
be calling in the morning and I will let everyone know what I
find out.
Thanks,
Sharon

I called back down to the NC Dept of Ag and spoke for quiet

a while with a guy. He said they are "kind of" changing up the

way they look at each category. There is 4 of them at the top.

Hatchery, Chick Dealer, Hatching Egg Dealer, and Poultry/

Ratiete Dealer (which is the free one). He said that if you are

selling hatching eggs to the public either thru a source like Ebay

or off of your property then you would did the Hatching Egg

Dealer. The chick dealer was a little bit more detailed. So I went

to the North Carolina Statutes and looked it up. It is Article 49

Poultry; Hatcheries; Chick Dealers. It depends on how you look

at the defintions of each one.

1. Hatchery means any establishment that operates hatchery equipment

for the production of baby chicks or poults

2. Hatching egg dealer, chick dealer or jobber means any person, firm,

corpation that buys hatching eggs, baby chicks, or turkey poults and

sells or offers them for sale.

3. Live poultry or ratite dealer means a person who sells or offers for sale to the

general public live poultry. Live poultry dealer does not include persons who sell

on their own premises live poultry that were raised on the same premises.

So I guess each person can look at the above and decide which one they need to

get. Good luck. Also they are good only thru July 1 to June 30 each year and

has to be redone before July 1 the following year.

Their number is 919-733-7601 for anyone who needs it.

There seems to be some confusion about the
'greencard". I am not the one making everyone
get it. That is something that North Carolina
requires.

So who is coming to the Sale? Trying to let them know how much space we need to set-up on Saturday morning. Looks like it will be a nice sunny day. Hope to see alot of people come by.
