She may just be building up to itI am just SO happy with this little olive egg! Found this one on the ground in the run so its a little dirty but she'll get the hang of it.
Looks like heavy bloom on one of my Barred Rock eggs today too.

In other news, I thought my Special chicken was going broody. She was in the nest box all day but wasn't egg bound. I finally went to move her off the nest at dusk and the little monster bit me!!

Oddly enough she's acting perfectly normal today.
I certainly hope not. It's not a good time of the year with this heat. Even with all the ventilation, she'd probably cook sitting in the coop nonstop. Honestly, I think she's just special. She's always been a little... different. Not sure I'd trust her with chicks. She may just be building up to it![]()
Chickens are amazing at regulating themselves. I remember 3 yrs back, the 1 and only time my OG OE Prue went broody, it was a brutal summer (that's when we were hitting 117 with the humidity) I was so worried about her, but she hatched 6 lovely chicks out of 8 eggs. Sansa has 5 more days to go on her first hatch and she's doing amazing, though extremely psychoI certainly hope not. It's not a good time of the year with this heat. Beautiful colors !!
