Central blinked as the water caught her between the eyes. She reached down and hugged her daughter, who was shivering, despite beaming because she had spotted Fort.

Tan took hold of fort and started floating towards the surface, using the air bubbles caught between her feathers.

Fort was aware of something holding onto her wing. She felt like she was peacefully floating up to heaven...

Red squawked and looked at a few leeches which had attached themselves to the side of the canoe. "Yuk."
Central grimaced. "Tan would know what those could be good for."

"What mountain? All I see is the sea." Water levels were rising, although it was very gradual.
Central pulled Red away from the side of the boat, where she was examining the leeches. "Is the hen going to be all right?" Red cheeped, looking at Fort, whose skin was pale.
