Ya know BigZ...I FORGOT to plant my beets this year! I planted the variety for the greens that dont develop the tubers but totally forgot (and I ran out of space) to plant the others...guess it's prob too late
I did get a bunch from my friendly farm stand...this guy is in his 90s and sells his produce to supplement his SS. He has the BEST stuff! Everything is cleaned and table-ready...even the carrots! Tomorrow I am going to take him some of my compost...maybe he will have some beets to trade?
I did get my book back from the library last week. They glued it all up just like new and didnt charge me a cent! Wasnt that nice of them? Of course I have paid so much in fines that they probably should name a wing after me....LOL!
I looked up lizards and here is a link for those interested: http://dnr.wi.gov/eek/critter/reptile/lizardsOfWisconsin.htm It is very easy to read and would be great for you homeschoolers! Did you know that 2 species of WI lizards stay with their clutch of eggs just like a hen? They even heat up their body temperature if they believe the eggs are too cold!
I just made myself some scrambled eggs with a little zucchini and some tomato from the garden--MMMM! Oh yeah, I took soem pics of that gigantic block of tomato plants...and a really cool spider too! Here is DD25s BF showing how big the plants are...they tower over my head!
Here is the Orb Spider. She has been living there the whole season. I have been watching her get bigger and bigger and bigger...
A view from the other side...see, I think I need to expand my space If I want to continue growing all the stuff that I like!
And here is the Hibiscus (I call it Stuart's bush in memory of him!) It is continuing to bloom like mad! I pick off 3-4 flowers every day to feed to the tortoises. They only last one day and are sooo pretty!
Well then--I bet you guys are mad that I found my camera at last!
but I am really happy!
getting dark, time to go back outside and lock up! Oh yeah...anyone got additional lighting on yet? I was thinking that it must be getting to that time again...
Sweet dreams...Terri O
ETA: Yup--time for lights...today we had 13 hours, 30 minutes and 10 seconds of daylight.
