good afternoon, I am taking a break.. Not that I worked so hard, just seems like the thing to do..

My brother went with me to pick up yet another freezer.. a small one that will hold about 250 pounds of meat.. \\

I have the skinned deer hanging off the tractor bucket.. waiting to be cut up and put into the new freezer..

I am negotiating a trade for some call ducks.. Americana and guineas/call ducks....

Everyone must have slept all day...thought I would have more than a few posts to read tonight/nope! I just have to tell you this before dinner...a watched egg never hatches! I have been home from work since 6PM and there is a quail that is nearly out...only found it cause I went to roll the eggs around with my hand and heard chirping...it keeps pushing and pushing---the egg looks like it is breathing--hopefully it will get out of the egg soon so I can stop watching it!

OK--talk later...time to eat! Terri O

Hey guys, what a gray day, bleh. Supposed to get high winds, batten down the hatches.

Jim, good score on the deer. Go for it on the calls, what's another breed anyway?

TO, very sorry about your friends' accident and the loss of his girlfriend.

That is too sad.

Heard good news on Casey today, he had the back surgery and is off the ventilator. The neuro docs think he will get some mobility back in his legs, which is fantastic - they thought he would be totally paralyzed when looking at an MRI right after the accident. A long road of slow recovery for him now. Thanks again all for the concern, good thoughts, and prayers; Cheeseheads are the best!

Jim, my calls weathered last winter just fine. We have them in a hutch and South facing so they do not get the brunt of the wind. I made sure that they had a good deal of straw in their hutch all winter long too. Of course, the heated dog water bowl was an added bonus for them! The duckie Hot Tub!

I modified the design on this link.

Nothing much going on here. Cruddy weather, and just running to work all the time.

You said it, BL4. Cruddy weather! The sun made a suprise appearance this afternoon, but naturally it didn't last very long. The wind has been crazy here since the sun came out. I sure hope it dries some of the mud. I am so sick of the squish.
sickbyc.gif
But naturally we got more rain after the sun made it's brief appearance.

So glad to hear the great news about Casey, Amy. He is a very lucky man. That is just wonderful.

TO, cute torts! The weather guy just said we're supposed to get frost inland on Sat. night. I wish I would have slept all day. But I was up by 5:30.
ep.gif
Sure got alot done, though. Cleaned the house, cleaned up & around the bird cage (they're moulting
somad.gif
), got a few loads of laundry done, got some tomatoes canned & even got to meet with Cind & her DS for awhile this aft. It was a very nice visit. And TO, I am so sorry to hear about your friend's GF. What a horrible thing to happen. I really feel bad for him. He is lucky he was ok, but I am sure he does not feel that way right now. So tragic.

So how many freezers are you up to now, Jim?
lau.gif
Your DD has raspberries now?
DrH, I don't have a BA roo. I wish I did, but no broodies yet either, and no incubator.

Yeah, yeah, I know. I'm living in the dark ages......

Well, better feed the kitties & hit the hay before I start typing the same letter across the screen.

FT, JK! And I sure hope your tooth feels better.

Sweet dreams, all!

well today started off so promising...
I went to feed this morning, went in to see Joan and have a cuppa...
She casually mentions that we need to clean the stalls where the chickens are kept....
Then as I am doing the big stall, with the help of my BFF, she says... I think we should make this stall (the one she is cleaning, it formerly housed her two geese)
into the big chicken coop/stall.
We got the current one done, and I ask if we should keep the smaller stall that is next to the one I am cleaning...( I have two I keep the non QT chickens in).
If we should get rid of that one and just have the two big ones...
NO she says, that one can be the one for the chicks and their mommas, at least until the chicks are old enough to be on their own, then moms can get "chucked" into
the larger stalls.

So back to this HUGE stall, 10 by 20, with some what lower stall walls on the sides...
Joan wanted me to put up chicken wire, I talked her into letting me put up plastic with vents (to keep the chickens in).
I went home to get some 2x4's to nail up to the ceiling, in order to staple the plastic too, and as I was leaving to go take BFF shopping for some shoes at a thrift store...
I see a few pieces of lattice work that the handy man had brought for Joan.
WHen we got back around 4, I unloaded the shavings that Joan had gotten, and she came out and I asked her about using the lattice work instead of chicken wire or plastic.
(until it gets colder).
Well at first she ranted and raved, and even my BFF said I had seen them and simply wanted to ask about them.
She wants the chicken stalls to look nice and clean, for when people come in and when people come to see the horses.
So after a little while she said that it made sense and decided RIGHT THEN AND THERE THAT WE SHOULD PUT THEM UP/ON, AND GET THE ROOSTS MADE... AND MOVE THE CHICKENS IN... at 4pm in the afternoon...
And then the handy man came in, so she enlisted his help, and BFF who also has a bad shoulder, suddenly was called upon to help hold up a 2x4 along the ceiling, hold up lattice so it could be screwed into the 2x4's. So now its a full blown production with sawz Alls, cordless drills, bit drivers... I cut up a 2x4 and re-used some other wood for the perches.. well all of its been repurposed from various things and projects...
Opened up a bag of bedding...and caught chickens that were in an empty stall and desperately trying to roost on anything they could... buckets, tiny spaces between the stalls...
So at 7 pm... we got them moved, roosting and sleeping.

The stalls will have their chickens in sizes... Tiny, small, and large!! The chick/brooder stall will have the two serama's, chicks and any mommas. The original big stall will be split into two sections (Until I set up the breeding pens), with bantam cochins, polish, and misc. chickens, and silkies will have their own place... And the HUGE Stall will have the normal sized chickens in it.
I will get pics tomorrow.. Although I am not sure how to best explain QT to Joan so that the she won't expect me to put the new chickens in the newly cleaned stall...

Anyhoo, dodging flying debris, I got fed horses who wanted to chase each other off the hay piles, I got home w/ BFF and made swiss steaks with mashed potatoes and corn and peas.

Nighters All!!

I"m not really laughing at you but at the situation !!! Just when you think things are going smoothly BANG !!!
barnie.gif
Know the feeling !! Btw what is BFF ?

CC You make me tired just listening to everything you did today !!! Going to the dentist in the morning. I think I am going to have the tooth pulled. It is the farthest tooth in the back and it will cost so much to cap it and being way in the back they said it is hard to get to !!! I'd rather spend the money on my animals then that much to save a tooth that will probably crap out anyway. You know if you spend $1000 per tooth in your lifetime that is over $32000.00. I think dentures are sounding pretty good.
This is one of the teeth I just had filled a few months ago.

Anyway, I'm bushed. DH is working 10 hour days. Hurried up to get my chores done so I could have dinner made for him. Well, I waited waited and waited for him to come home. So I didn't eat either, all day !!!
He finally gets home at 10PM I asked how many hours he worked, answer 10. I said what took you so long to get home (30miles) He stays and talks to another guy that is still working !!!!
th.gif

Wouldn't you think if you were there for 10 hours you would want to ge the heck out ??? Doesn't really matter to me but a phone call would be nice !! He is real real bad about that
smack.gif
I hate his driving so I start worrying when I don't hear from him. Plus he never charges his phone so.......................
smack.gif

Well, gotta go take a shower and then to bed. Morning comes early !!!
th.gif
They squeezed me in so I can't complain !!!

Night all, sorry if I forgot anybody or any topic, My memory has vanished lately !!!
