French Toast and Carol- when are you meeting up on Friday? Can always stop out and say hi- you know my kids love to see those chickens and horses! Or if it is in the Am... I have time where it is just me for a few hours !! I am only 15 minutes away from Carols !! Let me know!

Hi

Yep Jim, those "Bambies" are the best eatin'! I hope someone brings us another one this year!
droolin.gif
Thanks for the info on the wood! Part of the wood we have (and am getting more) is scrap from that guy that builds log homes. It's interior oak scrap so not treated!
big_smile.png

DrH ... Hummm... I read over my post and it sounded weird
hmm.png
Why do we have so much wood when we want to get a gas/wood burner next year?
tongue.png
We have a wood stove for heat now... the gas/wood burner we want to put on the boiler for the radiator system. I had naughty chickens too! The wind blew down part of the garden fence so they helped themselves to every tomato that had any color on it and about a dozen nice green ones!!! Plus they started pecking a watermelon that wasn't quite ready yet.
barnie.gif
I sealed up the the peck holes with wax. Hope I can save it! Sounds like you had a case of that AAADD in that garage!
lau.gif
From what I have heard, a hawk on the ground in a chicken yard is NOT a good place for the HAWK! Especially if there are roos!

Carol... you poop me out too!

TO....I kinda like the idea of "going on strike" at supper time.... but he might just blame it on the critters
sad.png
smack.gif
Kinda weird with my DH, he's the one that keeps wanting to get more kinds of critters! I have to keep reminding him I can't handle too many more critters! If my health was better or he had more time to help, fine, but I can't do it myself!
hide.gif
Hope you work it out!

FT.... glad the dentist went OK! Am I the only one who's guineas come in on their own? But then mine think they're chickens
gig.gif

Well, I got the little coop cleaned out and tomorrow I'll get mom and the kids in there. Looks like allot of coop for those little chicks! Humm, maybe I should divide it off until they get bigger
roll.png
Lacey so wants to take them out of the brooder. Can't blame her
hu.gif

Some of DS's case workers came today to set up some stuff. He has a new "Life line" monitor so I won't feel so bad if I have to leave him alone for a few hours! And he can get his room cleaned and they will change his sheets and things like that. That helps me allot!

Gee, seems like just a couple of months ago it was DH and I, 1 old dog, 2 old cats and a few chickens..... Now it's DH and I and Son, 3 dogs (we got his "friends" dog, she's 13) 4 cats and over 40 birds! Oh.... forgot the turtle!!! May not be much as some of you, but more than I thought I would have now!
hu.gif
Oh well, If I don't wear out, I'm happy!

lau.gif

lots on the list to do today.....

Good Morning All! Woke up too early today. FT glad the tooth fairy was kind to you!
lol.png
WCc nice job on the new chicken digs! Yup your right Jim about the face cords. My one Army buddy from Point is supposed to be going to Pumpkin Fest today so I should get to see him. I live about a mile from the site. Dang Donny called and said his wifes uncle found a tractor for him, that just ruined my whole day! I had pretty well made up my mind that I wasn't going to buy that Ford from him. But that got the wheels turning and now I want it. But he has to go look at it so don't know yet. Going to tell him not to tell me until he finds the one he wants. We are always pimpin each other but that's just mean! Cind it's always a good thing to have too much wood to burn. CC we'll have to see what transpires by spring. But if it would come to pass that I need some it would give me an excuse to come down and see most of you southern folk. I'd like that! Would also get to see L's fam and chicks would give us an excuse to go home.
lau.gif
I like them all well enough but when Sun rolls around we're always ready to come home to peace and quiet. Was thinking today that the lumber yard might not be open today with the Fest going on we'll see. If not there's plenty of other things to do. Man H&R when it comes time to paint I know who to call!
lol.png
TO think it was BCC that made the bale coops. As long as I'm up might as well get sumpin done. Have a good one!

Morning All!!
I have to go put chicken wires up around the base of one stall, across the stall wall on the opposite side, cobble together some more roosts, I am enclosing an old saw horse so that the momma's and babies will have a place to snuggle. and it can also be a nest box.. I have to get another nest box from some where... I think if I can snag a plastic milk crate I would be doing okay.. I might just cut down a bucket I wonder if any one has tried that...
I can't do heat lamps.. although I might be able to talk Joan into a heat emitter for the chicks..
I sold the "momma" of two older chicks, they are old enough to be on their own, and I need to move the Jaerhons out.. but will need to set up my dog kennel for them to get them used to being out there and not so afraid of everything.
Take care, I will get more pics up soon.
Carol

Good morning! The sun is SHINING!!!! Makes a body feel so much better. I slept in until 8:30...was nice. I do kind of miss when the little ones would wake up and come in to snuggle though....made my apple crisp last night--it was DELISH! DH had some this morning and said it was really good. When I said "and Gluten free" he said really?
th.gif
I said "DUH, ya think I would have been eating it last night if it wasnt???" Sometimes....now you guys arent on my FB friends acccount but I posted a pic of this Husky dog with a weird smirk on it's face...the caption said "You must be a different kind of Stupid" or something like that...I thought if him when I posted it for sure!
Carol--those Jaerhons you got from me laid in a hook over horse feeder. It is the favorite nest of that coop. Hey, is that one laying for you already? The reason I ask is because I am still getting a large white egg in there! I dont thing the Andalusian's egg could have gotten that big all of a sudden. Brent--the Buckeyes lay a brown egg right? It is a mystery right now.

Well, no frost last night...good thing too; I was only able to get a few plants covered. Today I am working on putting a few poles over the tomato plants so I can get a blanket over them in the nights to come....not that I need more tomatoes but man, those plants are still loaded!
I woke up to a bunch of crowing this morning...I forgot to close the Blue A's coop! I have been letting them out to free range during the day lately and it's still not ingrained in my routine to lock them up. So they picked this morning to try out their new crows! I will be having a bunch of blue eggs soon!!!
ya.gif

Just having a little dish of apple crisp--no ice cream this time--before I head outside to survey my muddy kingdom...yeah, I cant dig a hole and fill it up here...it fills itself with water before I can get the dirt back in!

Have a fantastic day! Terri O

ETA: Maybe you want to trade for the BA with bay eyes CC...then you would get babies! I'll get a pick of him today!

good morning,, my son and his GF just came in upstairs , so this will have to be short..

I made some nests out of 5 gal buckets.. I cut the lids to about 1/3rd and snapped that onto the bucket to hold the bedding in..
then laid the bucke on it's side and blocked it to keep it from rolling..

My guineas go in pretty well on their own.. except for a slight training period where I had to blast them out of the pine tree with the water hose.. LOL lately they have been real good about going in.. I told Annie that I should take a picture of them on the roost.. It is solid birds lined up like a bunch of bread loaves..
3 feet wide and 10 feet across..

DrH, if you buy that tractor, I guess we will not be hearing from you much anymore..eh? and just think of all the attachments you can get for it.. you could go into crop farming.. custom plowing etc ...

thanks CC, You are always my favorite.. don't tell the other kids..

FT., I recently had a tooth pulled on the bottom right waaay in the back.. I am so glad I did,, Now the tooth on the left side is getting sensitive.. I might just have that one anked too.. the matching teeth on the top don't seem to mind..LOL

I better get upstairs and talk to the people..

........jiminwisc............

Oh I'm buyin that tractor! And you know me too well Jim it might be hours before I get things done.

Just talked to Donny while at the end of the drive [had to show him a little leg to get him to stop, he's a sick man!] But ya gotta love him! Turns out his wifes uncle didn't call to tell him about the other tractor until 3 days after he saw it and now it's either sold or in the guys shed. Told Donny don't EVER EVER do that to me again!!!! He's such a tease! My day didn't have such a good start. Went into town a little before the bank opened at 8:30 to see if the lumber yard was open today. It was so I proceeded to the bank it didn't open till 9.
somad.gif
back home to put the trailer on and do a recon of the lumber I had on hand, got that figured out and took off for the bank again. I was trying to get this done before the Festers hit town. Bank was open and did the first transaction looked at the balance and immediately saw a problem. Turns out that my pension won't be in the account until Monday! I would think that in the last year and a half that I had done banking on a Saturday with the cash being in the account, but NOOOOO not today Ray! So the account went into immediate overdraft. Got it all straightened out and returned home with empty pockets and an empty trailer in tow.
somad.gif
So got the weed barriers out of the garden and raked and disposed of the cuke vines need to get the pole beans removed from the trelis then take out the trelis and it's ready to till for the winter. Got the dishes done and the snowblower checked out in case I need it, and a pan of brownies made and frosted. Can't wait to see what this aft has in store for me. Yup Jim I can see it now, me sittin under an umbrella sippin a beverage of my choice, watchin cars go by my roadside veggie stand. I'll be smillin and wavin! Think the whole yard will be under till before I know it. It's just a thought.
