Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

FT... yep... I'll be up. I assume you meant me about the buckets. Unless CC had buckets too

You know it's suppose to rain all day tomorrow too

tiki... hope your dog gets better!

Dornes... glad you stopped by! Congrats on the eggs!

Jim... the way I feel about gambling is... If you bet enough to worry about, you bet too much! That's why playing for a few bucks is more fun to me than playing for big bucks! 10 bucks ain't bad and even if you loose, how much other entertainment can you get for $10!

Glad Mom is good... tell her happy early? Birthday.

that guy from me too for letting that deer rot! I hate waste!

TO... I love duck too! hope yours turn out good.

BigZ... hope the oil dose the trick!

Yep, Jasmine is broody again! Gave her some plastic eggs in another nest this time. Hope she gets over it soon. Have a feeling she could be raising half of any new birds I want! Has anyone else noticed their broody eating like a pig just before they set?

good evening, that could be making two things the same or nighttime.

TerriO.. we butchered 75 muscovys last fall.. Annie roasts them..
Sorry, I can't agree with whoever said do not roast them.. They are dark meat, and high in protein.. therefore, you do not high heat them,, low heat for a longer period of time.. if they are overcooked, they do get dry..

the way we wax is ; we fill a turkey fryer with water about deep enough to dunk the ducks, then melt about a 2 to 3 inch layer of Dux wax in the water.. the wax floats on top of the water.

I scald the ducks and run them through the feather plucker..

then I dunk them about 3 times in the wax water, like making a candle..

drop them into a tub of cold water to harden the wax and then peel them like a navel orange..

after a few ducks are done, I just throw the peeled wax back into the kettle of water and keep recycling it..

after we are all finished I put all the wax into the water and let it set overnight.. the wax will harden and you can dump the water.. the water will push the wax plug out of the kettle in a nice round disc..

If your friends do it differently, I would like to know their method.. that is how we learn..eh?

ever hear of a bone crusher? It is like a pruning shears .. Got mine from Gander Mt. you can cut through a 3/4 inch bone like nothing.. also will take off a finger just as easily.. we remove the feet at the knee joint with ours.. I also cut deer ribs into bite size pieces before freezing them.. awesome little tool..

this went a lot longer than I meant to..

And BBP- can you send me a link to that best farm buys website!

I emailed on some d'uccles and some mixed bantams, but they were very close to me, location wise.

We have a radiator (oil filled heater) in the living room to keep the chihuahua happy, and the parakeets too.

I have 4-5 calls lined up for next week already!! So this job is starting to pick up!!

Yep Cind, I mean you !!! You know the aaadddDdddAAAAAD is hard at work here !!!

I'll probably leave here by 10:30pm I"m at my sisters house. Just watched Revenge. She goes to bed by then so I have to leave !!!! She is on a schedule, unlike me !!! LOL

Ummmm, I'm up. But how did ya know I had some buckets for you?

I think you meant Cind. But I'm not too far from her.

It sure would be nice to see you again before you headed home. You know where I was last weekend? Up by YOU! What lousy timing, I know, but we had to go up & rake leaves. Yeah, right. We tried to, anyways. Got them piled up, but couldn't burn with all the wind. Mom & DB got some burned after we left, but there's still plenty more waiting for us. At least all the leaves got blown out of the trees. Now if only they will stop blowing into my yard.

So are ya coming to the bash?????????
I hear ya on the furnace, TO. I just put mine on for the 1st time yesterday afternoon. But DH had a fire going last night & tonight, so that was nice & toasty, and cheap. The cats were in 7th heaven sprawled out all over too.
Bigz, McNabb does suck. Perfect fit with the Vikes. Hope your hen will be ok. Here are a couple of links for crop impaction. HTH.

Cind, my gals have been eating like pigs for at least the past week, and they're not broody. Maybe they're preparing for things to come? Now that's a scary thought.
I think parents need to teach their children, by example, to treat others the way they want to be treated. And to be kind and respectful to others, not cursing or flipping everyone off on their commute to work or school. But what do I know?
hu.gif

I sure hope you feel better soon, BBP.

That is a very troubling scenario indeed, and extremely heartbreaking. Our society is definitely headed in the wrong direction.
What a cold, bitter day today. I let the girls out late today & DH locked them up early before the wind really picked up. They didn't seem to mind. They were all in bed early without any coaxing.
I have been having trouble getting the pullets to go into the coop with the big girls all summer. They much preferred to sleep with my 2 bantams on top of the kennel panels in the carport, which was fine when the weather was nice. But I knew it wouldn't last, so a couple weeks ago I took down their stick that they used to get up by the banties & chased them into the coop & shut the door. The 2nd evening I only had to shoo 2 of them in, and by the 3rd they all went in.
clap.gif
But wouldn't you know it, the past few nights, one of the Aussies discovered she could fly from the ground to the top of the 6' kennel panel, so guess where she is? And she's real stubborn about leaving too. Turns out, my older chickens are real nasty about pecking them up on the roosts. Any ideas? I have 2 roosts, one lower & one higher, but they all want to be on the high one. Except tonight. I can see one of the buffs is on the low roost. Darn bad, naughty chickens.
Oh well. Sweet dreams, all!

LOL... looks like I beat FT for the good night post!

CC... if you bring buckets to the bash I'm sure someone would want them! Big buckets are always welcome on farms and farmets! BTW... thanks again for the jars! I used some and when I get to the tomatoes and the rest of the apples I'll all but use them up!

TO... gee, I wish you had those ducks done by the bash (maybe you will) I would be interested in "buying/bartering" a couple from you! I haven't had duck in years!

PM me if we can work something out.

Jim... how much did that "bone crusher" run you? Sounds like it would come in handy! The hens are doing good though I'm sure the wold like a bit more space.
hmm.png
Well, Sun. I plan on doing that.

Well, nice talk with FT... got the dishwasher emptied while we talked, filled it when she left... got garbage packed up and now it's wined down time and bed!
Night all!

Good Early Morning all!

FT I saw this and thought of you, I know its not a poodle cross http://madison.craigslist.org/zip/2658875952.html

Free Male Rat Terrier Mix. Lap Dog. Approx 8 years old. Smiling dog, very friendly, house trained. Has been companion of elderly woman who can no longer care for him. He is house trained with good disposition.

CC- I made smaller cross perches that went a hair higher than my other ones that went the long way across the coop, up in the corners, for every perch that went length wise, I put in the corners, smaller ones that went from the perch to the wall cross ways. Kinda hard to explain, but I found my birds like them. Even my silkies have made it up onto those perches. I do use a ramp to help them up though!! LOL

Well gots to run, feed the horses and go with Joan to F&F in Janesville, they are having a "Grand Re-opening" so their stock feed/chicken feed is on extreme sale. Horse feed is BOGO, and 7.99 for chicken feed. WOWSER's!!!@@@

You beat me to the first post !!! I haven't even gone to bed yet !!! After I left Cinds place I went up and down HwY 36 and couldn't find Walmart !!! Saw a few squads sitting in the bushes just waiting to pull people over !!!!
barnie.gif
They screwed me all up when they put that bypass in on HWY 36 !!!
I didn't get home from shopping until 5:30AM Yep I trupst all over the Burlington Walmart. I had to do some shopping for my Aunt and knowing that I hate to get up in the daytime I figured I would do it tonight. Came home, and talked to DH on the phone on his way to work. I told him last night to call me this AM and if i heard the phone I would answer !!! Well, he was reallys surprised when he heard how wide awake I was !!! LOL
I said I just got home, he said YOUR KIDDING !!! Ah old habits die hard, no DH around I stay out all night and shop, just like old times !!! LOL
So I'm tired but still wired from the M&M's I ate to and from Burlington !!! And the cola I had at Cinds I'm sure is helping me stay awake !!! LOL

WCC, thanks for the dog ad from CL. I think I am going to wait for a bichon or poodle or cross. I really really love poodles and of course the bichon cross like Butt dog. There is one I replied to in Racine that is a Maltese/Bichon cross. Like my sister said, maybe I shouldn't seek one out, I'm sure one will find us.

Oh, WCC do you think you could bring those cart wheels and the tie blocker to the bash ?
I'm thinking I'll bring a Racine Kringle. Alot of people like the Pecan. Sound good ???
Ok, better start winding down !!! Another long day ahead.
Oh and did anyone see the feather hair extentions at Walmart? They come two extensions in a box for $9.98 !!!
